bite bite bite: geekparents
http://geekparents.livejournal.com/523784.html
Has anybody successfully convinced a child to stop biting their fingernails? My son, whos 3.5yo, was always interested in biting them instead of clipping them, but recently, hes taken them down to the wick. While his fingers arent bloody, it looks darn well close enough. Sweet, Sweet Sondheim: geekparents

I aM gAER'S PaRENTaL PRiDE. Sweet, Sweet Sondheim. The thing about musicals by Stephen Sondheim is that, much like opera, it pays to know the music and libretto beforehand. Well, I can say for certain that by the time my daughter attends a Sondheim musical, she will have no problem following the plot. My mother has been "educating" (read: converting) my little girl to his music by playing CDs in the cars. She even has her favourites! So far "Hello Little Girl" and "Agony" from Into the Woods.

And aspiring grads) of Livejournal. Starting a Family in Grad School? Jan 30th, 2013 at 7:23 PM. I'm having so many thoughts. Should I be inquiring at the schools I have applied to as to their policies regarding maternity leave? Should I wait until I have been accepted (which I plan on doing)? Or should I just wait until my husband and I decide that we're ready to start a family and then once I'm pregnant figure it out. Advice and experiences are greatly appreciated. 8 comments Leave a comment. There's n...

Any Anglophone lit should be ok, but I'll struggle to get American/Canadian lit through the teaching and learning committee - academic politics eh? 6 comments Leave a comment. In particular, Octavia Butler has a great collection of short stories, called "Bloodchild". Do comic books count?
