Anything & everything about the Choos: August 2009
http://choo-ing.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Filed Under: Labels: Children. Radio and television till this day still remain great influencers to mankind. The influence is so great that even a young child is able to retain bits of what they watch or listen to. This is evident as my kids too are being 'brainwashed'. While deciding on where to go for dinner one night Cavin, my sister and I were tossing ideas and suggesting restaurants. Cayden too chips in and. Cayden : Go to Wendy's daddy. Suggestion gets ignored while we adults were still chatting).

So much for technology. These days there are many devices, equipment and gadgets designed to help ease our lives and supposedly save time. But I must say, not everything I have come across made my life easier albeit there some which really lived up to their claims. Technology A - Philips Garment Steamer. On the other hand there's an equipment which has been very helpful with household cleaning :D. Technology B - Dyson Handheld Vacuum. Anyway, back to donning the housewife hat with lots more ironing to be...
Anything & everything about the Choos: Quick thinking

Filed Under: Labels: Children. My little girl is really starting to show her ability to think fast. This is especially so when she is put in a situation whereby she is not comfortable with. She is quite good at talking her way out of things, I feel. Dad : Mei Mei, since Ko Ko is not here so you will have to take his place and stay with Kong Kong. Mei Mei' - younger sister in Cantonese). Ko Ko' - older brother). Anyway, back to the story. Caitlyn : I don't want. Dad : Why don't you want to? Dad : Can also...

Filed Under: Labels: family. Today is a very special day which calls for a double celebration (囍 )! Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting again. It is a celebration of a UNION and also REUNION. (nope, not my sister's wedding bells either). Today is Chinese New Year's Eve, a day where Chinese families gather for their annual reunion dinner, also known as Chú Xī. And in Cantonese - kow. Sounds like the Chinese word for "long" as in long life or everlasting. Gong Xi Fa Cai and Nian Nian You Yu! Being a work...

Three Fireflies: March 2013
http://3fireflies.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Random notes from our little family. Saturday, March 30, 2013. All's well in Singapore. In case any of you are wondering what on earth happened to us since our return to sunny Singapore, were fine, were fine. I mean, Singapore is not. 160;Paris, or London, or Santorini, but its a fine city. . I think this story is funnier if you were there in person, but here goes. We were in the car for a short drive to our breakfast spot this morning, when Ju started to whine for my iPhone. Ju: "What special times?
Three Fireflies: September 2013
http://3fireflies.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Random notes from our little family. Wednesday, September 04, 2013. Two weeks before the day, when she showed no signs of backing out, I reluctantly moved away from the denial stage, and quickly whipped up something worthy. First, we made sure she does her bit for her own party. So she designed her birthday card, then she helped me make 4 copies of it using bits and bobs. She also provided her own entertainment - a few magic tricks. What else did we do? The cupcakes kept up with the magic theme. The icin...
Three Fireflies: July 2013
http://3fireflies.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Random notes from our little family. Sunday, July 14, 2013. Determination and Resourcefulness - Gardens by the Bay. It seems strange to give such a title to a little spot of a garden on a spit of reclaimed land, but that was the impression in our heads as we walked away from the Gardens by the Bay near the Marina Reservoir. The iconic Supertree Groves at the entrance. We don't know much about plants, but it was fascinating to see the unusual colours and shapes even for plant dummies like us. Notice t...

Random notes from our little family. Friday, October 18, 2013. Bhutan - Punakha - Khamsum Yuley Namgay Chorten. This is the story of an indulgent. Gullible wife and her husband. One fine afternoon, she decided to go for an hour's hike up to a ridge to visit a temple with her husband and their Bhutanese guide. The temple, Khamsun Yuley Namgay Chorten, was built by the Queen Mother in recent years, houses religious scriptures and Buddhist images. The husband asked his wife, "What do you want to do? The Bhu...

Below is an excerpt from Lonely Planet:. Do you spot the magic thunderbolts of wisdom painted on this house? They are believed to ward off evil and protect the household. Or if you prefer, you can hang them on the rooftop. Doorways are fine, too. Lush paddy fields surrounded by mountain ranges, and interrupted only by a small farming v...

Three Fireflies: Bhutan - Day 2 of Tiger's Nest Monastery Hike
http://3fireflies.blogspot.com/2013/10/bhutan-day-2-of-tigers-nest-monastery.html
Random notes from our little family. Friday, October 25, 2013. Bhutan - Day 2 of Tiger's Nest Monastery Hike. This is what we woke up to on Day 2. Above the clouds at 4,500m. Breakfast above the clouds at 4,500m. After a quick washing up with hot water provided by the crew, we were on our way. Today is downhill day. I had recovered completely from yesterday's ordeal, but downhill is not my forte so it was still a slow day for me. You know you are near when you see prayer flags converging like this. The T...
Three Fireflies: August 2013
http://3fireflies.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Random notes from our little family. Saturday, August 24, 2013. Open House at Istana. The Istana (Malay for "palace") is the official residence of the President of Singapore. Last weekend, they organised an open house in celebration of the Singapore National Day and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. In search of food (open houses in Malaysia always ply visitors with mounds of food, isn't it? Apparently, the locals knew there was no food to be had, and brought their own picnic. Pppffhhh. A drawing competition was als...
Three Fireflies: May 2013
http://3fireflies.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Random notes from our little family. Sunday, May 12, 2013. This being Singapore, the "farm" is a stretch of imagination, and can be better described as a typical Malaysian kampung. Longkang (drain in Malay) fishing. These koi fishes were seriously aggressive, wriggling madly against each other in the scrimmage for food, almost threatening to jump out of the pool. I stood far behind the kids. My first time seeing a real one. This one looked like she was breastfeeding. The infamous white tigers, through no...
