Chopsticks and Mango: 08.08

I'm sorry to say, but there is nothing quite like phở gà in Việt Nam. I've made it at home, I've eaten it in a couple dozen restaurants, yet there is nothing quite the same. I'm not sure what the difference is- otherwise, I could make it myself! But certain things make it closer to the original. Basil, garlic, chilis, nuoc mam and limes are key accoutrements. Despite my lack of enthusiasm for the homemade variety, you should try Andrea Nguyen's recipe. If you can't find it locally. Who's in the kitchen?

Chopsticks and Mango: 06.08

http://chopsticksandmango.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

I was introduced to sua chua. On my first day in Da Nang. Served alongside fruit for breakfast, the square plastic cups were filled with room-temp sweet milk that I was told was yogurt. At first spoonful, I wasn't sure. The texture was nothing I knew as yogurt in the States. Giving it a second shot, I realized the glory of sua chua and have been in love ever since. Stir in 8-10 oz. of yogurt and continue to stir, mixing until there are no small chunks of yogurt left. Stir in 2 cans of milk (using...Using...

Chopsticks and Cheesecake | Food, glorious food.

So I bit the bullet (see what I did there?

Chopsticks & Hockeysticks

Its no secret that Chris and I are both HUGE fans of sushi. Even while living in Minneapolis we frequented the Byerly's Sushi Bar several times each week. Needless to say, the sushi in Japan is FANFREAKINGTABULOUS. (go figure, right? Chris and I go to our favorite sushi restaurant in Tomakomai at least several times each week. Its going to be emotional when we have to say good bye to our sushi chef friends. A picture of the two different types of Maki. Taka couldn't wait for the sushi to be done.so h...

Chopsticks and Other Theories

Chopsticks and Other Theories. Monday, September 27, 2010. No I don't. This is what a mall directory looks like:. Look That's a HUGE picture hahah. There's even smiley men standing next to it. Maybe they'll give you a tour of the mall. Because I sure will not. Unless you're going to pay me over minimum wage. Because that's what I'm getting to stand here and smile. And I'm pretty sure I'm getting wrinkles from all of the pretend smiling. So pay up. Posted by chopsticksandothertheories @ 10:01 PM. And wait...

Chopsticks and Pearls

Tuesday, May 10, 2011. Be still my heart. Galveston has such fun memories for me as a kid. We had a beach house in this same neighborhood and came down almost every weekend. It was so fun to bring Avery down for the first time and show James our old stopping grounds. I can't wait for more beach trips in the future! Homegirl wasn't so sure about the sand in her toes! This was about 2 hours before the "plague" hit her, so I'm going to reserve any comments about being little miss priss. I only wish I had ta...
