Thursday, January 27, 2011. Sticks and Stones may Break my Bones, but Words will never Hurt…well in some Cases they might…. Linda Chavez begins her article with those 6 words to let us know that she thinks respect in a public setting is important. She wanted us to know that so she could explain the civility of some words and if they are respectful or not. Chavez uses the word bellicose in her article to show that for a very long time politicians use bellicose metaphors in their campaign speeches. I agree...

Thursday, December 2, 2010. 1 Christ is mentioned 23 times. 2 make holy, slain, died, lives, took sin, set apart, died and rose again, came, make blessings, grabs you, holds closer, smiles, reigns on throne, calls home. December 6, 2010 at 5:16 AM. I agree with what you said about Edwards sermon and how he did not mention Christ at all. I agree with how he was trying to get his listeners to believe in Christ out of fear and not love for God; I like how you put that in there. December 6, 2010 at 5:21 AM.

Thursday, January 27, 2011. Chavez' Article on Words. 1 offending someone with words is one of the biggest fears that Americans have I today’s society. Chavez makes it clear that when in public, choosing what to say is crucial for yourself and others around. By starting off her column with that point Chavez makes her intent clear with how words are so vital to chose before speaking them. Bellicose is such a strong word describing the metaphors politicians’ use which is why Chavez chose it. If the man wou...

Tina: I Don't care if it Rains or Freezes...

Sunday, October 31, 2010. I Don't care if it Rains or Freezes. In the Detroit Freepress Matt Helms wrote an article describing how lawmakers would like to legalize hanging items from rearview mirrors. Even though it really doesn’t matter because everyone still does. They are thinking to rewrite it so it only bans big items like fuzzy dice from your rearview, but small items are okay. Thursday, December 9, 2010. Savior of the Nations, Come". Martin Luther does a grand job in the hymn of "Savior of the Nations, Come" of telling why Jesus came to earth. The description throughout the whole hymn always goes back to the human birth of Jesus showing the reader why He is needed so badly. Luther writes, "Captive leading death and hell-High the song of triumph swell! Which shows that Jesus came to lead unbelievers from hell and that was His work on earth! Thursday, December 2, 2010.

Monday, November 1, 2010. 1 In the article it discusses how the law against items hanging from rearview mirrors is being rethought. Some people think the law is stupid, especially since it is rarely enforced by police. Now a senator is trying to "soften the ban". 3 I agree with this ban because people enjoy having small objects dangling off of their rearview mirrors and they have significance to that person. I also don't see as much of a hazard as some would think as long as the items are small enoug...

What word is the more bellicose? Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Conserve, Reuse, Recycle". Friday, December 10, 2010. Savor of the Nations Come". This shows that God loves us so much that He will always be there even if we don’t want to have a relationship with Him. He uses diction very well in this hymn. He uses words like marvelous and glorious to describe God. This makes the meaning so much more powerful because it shows that God is that great He can be called these words. Monday, December 6, 2010.

What word is the more bellicose? Thursday, January 27, 2011. Chavez’s intent with the first six words is to explain that you should think before you talk and act like an adult when you are speaking in public. You would not want to offend someone with a negative word or hurt them by what you say. She explains this in the first six words to get her point across right away and inform the reader what her opinion is. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
