Net11 Learning Log: Future Shock
http://fiona-net11learninglog.blogspot.com/2008/08/future-shock.html
Tuesday, August 12, 2008. I just came across this podcast. Of an interview with Dr Vint Cerf. It is quite good, and he has a sense of humour which I liked. It accompanies a blog. That I stumbled across that the interviewer (Tom Raftery) keeps and he has logged his questions and the minutes as they occur so you can navigate through it if you want to. On further investigation I noticed a few other interesting podcasts including a weblog one which I might listen to next. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Net11 Learning Log: Little Miss Contradiction
http://fiona-net11learninglog.blogspot.com/2008/08/little-miss-condradiction.html
Tuesday, August 12, 2008. Oh, typical of me really. I have just posted and read back my first "future shock" post. I guess I will have egg on my face. All of the predictions I thought more on the ridiculous side if looked at from a literal point of view can kind of be meshed in with the whole " cyber. I just read the quotes and took it from a complete physical realistic sense, and well, lets face it there isn't going to be a medium provided. By the Internet that will allow time travel will there?

Random thoughts from a working mum. Monday, July 7, 2008. Task 3 - Web 2.0. Web 20 is an expression of all the changes that have occurred. On the Web, plus other changes in the way people and business use the Web and think about human interaction on the Web. Web 2.0 can be summed up as trusting user as co-developers, services, not packaged software, with cost-effective scalability. It is not a program, but just a way of describing the movement towards more user interactivity on the Web. Module 2 - Lists.

My First Blogspot: Module 5!
http://girvansfirst.blogspot.com/2008/08/module-5.html
Wednesday, August 20, 2008. For the last module we have been asked to give some reflections on questions asked about Information ecologies. Here are my response after reading the materials. The first question is -. How might the metaphor of an ‘ecology’ impact on the way you think about, understand or use the Internet? After reading the 2 articles, i was a little overwhelmed with the the concepts put forth. I think i grasped the 'meat' of the article but struggled a little with the intricacies. Just like...

Random thoughts from a working mum. Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Module 3 - HTML tags task. Well after the past 4 days I have to say that my web page is the very basic of web pages, and probably one of the most boring. This is due to the time I have spent on just coming to terms with using html. Firstly I have to say that I had difficulty getting the swirlies background, but thanks to Katherine Lynch I finally got it, plus I found a site that gave me backgrounds, glitters etc. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My First Blogspot: Module 4 - Task 1
http://girvansfirst.blogspot.com/2008/08/module-4-task-1.html
Wednesday, August 13, 2008. Module 4 - Task 1. Out of the applications listed which i didn't already have, Coppernic was the first app i downloaded. It was a decent enough application but i found the standalone interface a little cumbersome. The idea of having to run an application besides a web browser was a little off putting. Now putting that aside it does a good job of searching, but with back to back searching with Google, found Google a lot easier to navigate. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sunday, July 20, 2008. The last part of the Webpage task was to FTP my site up to the Oasis server. From doing this earlier in the course (and reading the discussion board) it was relatively easy to do. So i went ahead and fired up filezilla, entered in the credentials and the location. It came back and said complete. Here is the URL to my somewhat infantile webpage! Http:/ webct.curtin.edu.au/305033 b/student pres/Group02/index.html. Thursday, July 17, 2008.
