In January 1994, I initiated a music instruction program for adults (primarily seniors) which teaches them to perform on wind instruments in a concert band setting. This program has been a very successful undertaking. Seniors and adults have learned to read and apply music notation as well as develop competent practical skills on a wind instrument. Born in Hamilton, I started my music career as a Clarinet student at the Royal Hamilton College of Music at age eight. I studied classical clarinet for seven years with teachers Don Allen, John Price and Gary Kidd. In 1987 as a Captain I moved to Active Reserve status with the Canadian Forces and served in the capacity of Music Advisor for Air, Army and Sea Cadet Training System for Ontario, based at CFB Borden Ont. In 1989, I was promoted to the rank of Major and continued to serve until March 1992.
