It’s a big sweaty fact that imposed its wilting veracity upon me since touchdown in Bangkok. It’s not unbearable, though. I learned to get along with the steaminess of Bangkok and Isaan pretty well. But, I was unprepared for Cambodia. Ferring that I should suck it up. Our tuk-tuk driver makes his way through typical traffic in Siem Reap.

Enduring an 8-hours of jostling around a bus through the pock-marked roads and endless switchbacks of the Lao mountains was not our ideal romantic day, but the view in Nong Kiaow made it all worth it. After our time in Chiang Mai we spent 3 days in Pai, a small mountain town northwest of Chiang Mai. It was cute, and we ate some the best Western-style food I’ve had anywhere at the Witching Well cafe in town, but it thoroughly developed for tourism–farangs seemed to outnumber Thais. The day after our cave adventures, we prepared for the next leg of our journey: Laos. Teaching with Arjun James.
