The Blue Lagoon is actually turquoise, formed by a curve white strip of sand that reaches far out to sea, nearly touching the other side. It is a protected area of 'outstanding natural beauty', where unsightly developments are strictly taboo. It is the ideal place to be if all you want to do is relax and soak up the sun, watch the sunset, and plan your next lazy day. N Cyprus and Turkey.

On a very stormy and overcast day in April 2009, I ventured up to Sidi Bou Said. The sky was dark and menacing, the blues of the window saturated with skylight breaking through the clouds. Barely two months later, this photograph was picked up by a CD production company in France. This CD can be purchased online from the company website at.

Last monday night we held our monthly competition to vote for our favourite pictures submitted by members. There were three competitions. In the open competition. John Fryar won with an excellent photograph of a cricketer (see opposite). Well composed, pin-sharp and full of dramatic presence. It was a worthy and popular winner. Won the print competition.
