Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Citizens are encouraged to shovel out fire hydrants near their homes. Some people cooperate, others do not. While strolling through a neighborhood, I happened upon a snow covered hydrant. Right away, I sensed why nobody had cleared away the snow. Across the road stood an apartment building. Renters lived there, not homeowners. Last week I shoveled out a fire hydrant. Saturday, February 21, 2015. These thoughts—seemingly ...

Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Shopping cart blocks a vacant check-out isle. Are minorities trusted less? Yesterday I visited a market. Call it Store 1. It’s not my usual shopping destination. Two check-out isles weren’t in use. They were situated near the exit of the store. Physical barriers, including a shopping cart, obstructed movement through those isles. Why the difference in trust? Do ethnic perceptions factor in? Sunday, July 26, 2015. After the portrait...

I'm currently trying to convert this one into a modular setup so i can bolt in either my pocket-rocket or a liquid fuel MSR, depending on the conditions. Posted by max at 10:41 AM. Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography: Not Courting Attention

Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography. Monday, August 3, 2015. Brush pruned from sides of court. More work to follow. The Ghetto. That nickname describes a basketball court in my town. The conditions are deteriorating. Change is afoot. A man is donating money to refurbish the court. He prefers to remain anonymous. Donors like him inspire me. They personify selflessness. Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography: A Step Backwards
http://shutterquill.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-step-backwards.html
Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Doctor poses for photo as he retires. Is this doctor a dying breed? He made house calls during his career. His office was located inside his home. He treated me when I was a boy. Docs like him provided more than medical care. They enhanced the cohesion of a community. Having the same doctor meant sharing something in common. Or just a stranger on call? Either way, it’s a step backward in the right direction. When Loosing is Winning.

Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography. Saturday, January 31, 2015. A Girl Scout sold cookies outside a supermarket. The day was cold. Perhaps her fortitude generated sales from passersby. For as long as I can remember, Girl Scouts have knocked on doors to sell cookies. I’ve purchased their peanut butter ones. The girls accomplished more than raising money for their troops. They gained self confidence. It’s took courage for a child to approach a stranger. Talking to strangers builds confidence.

Last Saturday Night after work Mr Max got the 2nd ascent after tentatively trying the first few placements the thursday before. It took me a couple of hours in the end and was my first taste of hard aid climbing. Cheers to Marcus Morley for the belay and words of aid wisdom! Posted by max at 2:27 PM. Links to this post. Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography: Luminosity
http://shutterquill.blogspot.com/2015/08/luminosity_15.html
Shutterquill: Insights Gleaned From Photography. Saturday, August 15, 2015. Stars and Big Dipper photographed a few nights ago. Everyone has viewed the Big Dipper. It's an asterism of seven stars. Can you see it? Six of the stars are bright. A seventh star, where the handle connects with the ladle, is dull in luminosity. It fades in an out when viewed in real time. If that star wasn’t part of the Big Dipper, nobody would notice it. The star would be insignificant. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
