Chris Gibisch Photography 2016. Last week I was in Southeast Utah checking out Arches. Michelle’s boys invited me on their spring break trip and how could I say no to that! It was a great time camping and generally just checking out the park with all of it’s attractions. The desert never disappoints! Big Mtn, Whitefish. Ice in the GNP. Back in February, Justin and I skied into Snyder Lake with hopes of climbing the North face of Mt. Edwards. We were both itching for a good adventure, but the weat...With ...

Chris Gibisch Photography 2016. Although a Respiratory Therapist by profession, I spend most of my time pursuing my passion for the outdoors through climbing and hang gliding. A career that only demands three days of my week allows me the time to explore the world we live in. Through my recreational pursuits, I get to experience the world in ways many people never will. Along the way, I try to capture these moments and experiences through a lens.

Chris Gibisch: Avalanche on Bora Peak
http://chrisgibisch.blogspot.com/2014/11/avalanche-on-bora-peak.html
Saturday, November 22, 2014. Avalanche on Bora Peak. We slogged in the 6 mile approach and neared the face. It looked pretty good and we figured we could safety manage the hazards. I the snow was too deep, we would just turn around. We began climbing and everything seemed great. The face was holding very little snow and we were front pointing up the permanent nevé. We were cruising, progressing around 1,000ft in 30 minutes. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Monday, August 20, 2012. Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Easy Living at the Elephant's Perch. Thursday afternoon Justin Woods, Kyle Neeley, and I hit the road for a few days trip to the Elephant’s Perch. The Elephant’s Perch is a 1,200ft granite formation in the Sawtooth Wilderness of Idaho. It has to be some of the highest quality rock and crack systems outside of the high sierras. With August here, the fire season is now upon us. When we reached the town of Challis, ash was raining from the sky. It’s a...

Friday, July 19, 2013. The North Face of Mount Temple first caught my attention about 13 years ago while on my first alpine trip to Canada. It’s hard not to get captivated by this monster. With a nearly 5,000ft North face capped by seracs, it dominates the Lake Louise landscape and calls to all alpinist. North face of Mt. Temple. Ben scouting the route from Lake Annette. Nightfall from our bivy at Lake Annette. Ben low on the route. Sunrise from our bivy. The final summit slopes. Rafal on the summit ridge.
Chris Gibisch: May 2014
http://chrisgibisch.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 24, 2014. I struggle to maintain my position in the Land Cruiser as we traveled down the rough dirt road. Shikuku, John, Peter, and I have been on the road for 5 hours, leaving the pavement and once again entering the remote bush country of Tanzania. We are heading south between Lake Manyara and Lake Eyasi into the Datoga and Hadzabe territory. We meet up with our contact Momoya near Mang’ola and continue on to his uncle’s home. Even in the most remote of places, the impacts are evident.
Chris Gibisch: November 2013

Thursday, November 28, 2013. Ben on Avalanche Lake. Looking back at the lake. The next morning Justin joined us and the three of us headed back to Avalanche lake to climb the Inner Thigh. Like the day before, the approach went incredibly smooth. We had a later start so we were a bit behind schedule, but not too concerned. It was noon by the time we reached the base of the route and it looked great. A hidden corner system choked with ice. Beginning of the season packing error. Last pitch of Memorandum.
