The Seas Catch Fire. March 3, 2012. I recently finished work on my new Grade IV concert band work. The Seas Catch Fire. The work, at over 8 minutes in length with around 12,000 notes is the largest work I’ve written yet for concert band. It was commissioned by the wonderful Kate Mitchell and Pewaukee High School Wind Ensemble. The title is derived from the following quote by e.e. cummings:. 8220;Trust your heart if the seas catch fire, live by love though the stars walk backward”. The Seas Catch Fire.
