Aries the Dreamer: October 2008
http://ariesthedreamer.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Life through the eyes of a prince with his head in the clouds. Wednesday, 15 October 2008. I’m off to India to become a Naga…. So I have my life back. After finishing my pact with the dissertation devil I can resume my favourite pleasures, namely: gossiping, partying, mooching, reading, and yoga, (but no DJ'ing as my decks don’t fit in my new room), and of course blogging – it’s been a while. But something cheered me up – Channel Five's ' Paul Merton in. One evening they entered a beautiful temple to cel...

Aries the Dreamer: December 2008
http://ariesthedreamer.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Life through the eyes of a prince with his head in the clouds. Thursday, 18 December 2008. Hallelujah" for Saturday night TV? FORGET the G&T, make a cup of tea, swap your Carlsberg for a cardigan, party choons make party goons, don't be a Red Bull glutton, just push that red button. Yes, staying in is the new going out and with temperatures plummeting and the credit crunch tightening its jaws Saturday night television is booming. Well imagine how poor old Leonard felt? I'm sure the American idol (no pun ...

The Long and Short of it: November 2008
http://jennylongden.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, 27 November 2008. A Long and short of it interview with: Kate Adie. If I happen to interview anyone of remarkable interest - which lets face it, doesn't happen too often in Perth - I will upload it on this here blog. This interview is particularly interesting,. 1/because it's with war correspondant, author and all-round amazing lady Kate Adie,. 2/because she makes some very interesting remarks about journalism, and how she 'fell in' to the industry. Let me know what you think. Go the power of r...

Aries the Dreamer: November 2008
http://ariesthedreamer.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Life through the eyes of a prince with his head in the clouds. Wednesday, 5 November 2008. Say it loud, black and proud! THE revolution will not be televised, the revolution is now.". TRUE, although I watched it unfold on the small-screen, and am still blissfully glued to it now. It began on Sunday with the first ever black Formula One world champion, and continued with a landslide victory for the first US African-American President. This week was a great moment to be a young black (mixed race) male.

The Long and Short of it: January 2009
http://jennylongden.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 6 January 2009. Getting down with the locals (the vox populi). One of the best bits about being a journalist is that you can apply yourself to any social situation and pretend to understand the locals. We work for people, because we provide news to people, therefore we must speak to people. So, here's some of my all time favourites:. Asking men in the city centre of Glasgow “do you wear boxers or briefs? In Perth, in response to “Are gangs of children threatening? 8221;, a very posh lady said, &...

The Long and Short of it: 'The great snow break'
http://jennylongden.blogspot.com/2009/02/great-snow-break.html
Sunday, 8 February 2009. The great snow break'. It's dark. It's cold. A flake of snow falls from the sky and settles gently on the pavement. A little girl gasps and looks up. There's more! And by god, it's settling! Suddenly, the whole street come out and bask in the white flecked glory. No one knows what to do! They've never seen this fluffy, cold, flaky substance before! One would think the cockneys have never seen snow before. The front page of every national paper shouted IT'S SNOWING! And up in Scot...

The Long and Short of it: Superiority complex?
http://jennylongden.blogspot.com/2009/08/superiority-complex.html
Sunday, 2 August 2009. This blog is about competitiveness in journalism. No between person to person, but between different media outlets and different organisations. I'm documenting this, because I wonder if in 10 years time when I look back to the beginning of my career, I still feel the same. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but the following things have sprung to my attention over the last 9 months:. D) Journalists at a music festival approaching musicians press officers AFTER I've spoken to them, and then ...

Monday, 18 May 2009. A Long and Short of it interview with. Ian Stark. One of the many interviews I did at the Central Scotland Horse Trials with eventing legend (and my childhood hero) Ian Stark. Particularly interesting if you're a horsey person! The Long and Short of it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Crudely reducing my sister to her sexual function is not very nice. Afternoons and coffee spoons. Terminal Moraine - Ben Hazell. Good books for Kindle. Cliff's bangers and mash.

The Long and Short of it: A life of stuff
http://jennylongden.blogspot.com/2009/03/life-of-stuff.html
Tuesday, 24 March 2009. A life of stuff. I succeeded in the getting a job bit. But it meant moving back in with my parents. Which sort of undermines the fact I’m finally salaried and have escaped the grips of studentdom and dependence on the parents. So it’s with glee that I can announce I’ve moved out of the family home and in to my own love nest with my other half. Really. What are two journalists with limited cash flow going to do with all this crap? The Long and Short of it. 24 March 2009 at 10:35.
