I To The Hills: December 2011

I To The Hills. In the summer of 2011 my daughter became very ill in Nepal. I flew out to be with her, we came home together. This is the story from my perspective. Saturday, 31 December 2011. I To The Hills Will Lift Mine Eyes. Annabel held onto my arm as we slowly walked across the garden to the restaurant area. We were going to sit and have a drink, I selected a table in the courtyard, which was screened on one side by large trees, but Annabel asked not to sit outside. Annabel slept fitfully that night.

I To The Hills. In the summer of 2011 my daughter became very ill in Nepal. I flew out to be with her, we came home together. This is the story from my perspective. Wednesday, 28 December 2011. Maurice and Betty had given me the number of friends of theirs, Dennis and Bing. One of Maurice and Betty’s daughters is married to one of Dennis and Bing’s sons; they share a beautiful grandson. They had been in Bhutan for the past week. I called them to say hello and they promptly asked me to lunch. I stood on t...

I To The Hills. In the summer of 2011 my daughter became very ill in Nepal. I flew out to be with her, we came home together. This is the story from my perspective. Thursday, 29 December 2011. I decided to leave the hospital early the next morning to go and get Annabel breakfast from the Summit. I walked across the large bridge that crosses the River Bagmati, passing a monkey sitting on the parapet – not an experience I enjoyed – monkeys make me nervous. 8216;You turned my wailing into dancing’! We also ...
I To The Hills: The Last Leg

I To The Hills. In the summer of 2011 my daughter became very ill in Nepal. I flew out to be with her, we came home together. This is the story from my perspective. Monday, 2 January 2012. I was very aware that Annabel would find the flight tiring so we had a gentle day, walking around the grounds, ’slowly, slowly’. We had a final visit from Milan who brought us gifts of Nepali scarves, a CD and a calendar depicting his church. We were grateful to him for all he had done for us. As I listened to some mus...

Thank you for visiting my site. Recently, other things in my life have been more compelling than writing poetry, which had been an important and regular activity. I still love hearing the spoken word and helping to produce SOUTH poetry magazine. I enjoy time spent as part of a caring and challenging Quaker community in Bristol.

Bible iliteracy describes the inability or motivation to read and interpret the Bible with sufficient understanding. This can happen when someone doesn’t have access to the Bible but also when they do. Globally, there are still about 1700 languages that don’t have Bible translations! In Papua New Guinea put on my heart to help people to be able to have a Bible and be able to study it themselves. Celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in Germany. Moved to Bad Blankenburg. There was a time in...

I To The Hills. In the summer of 2011 my daughter became very ill in Nepal. I flew out to be with her, we came home together. This is the story from my perspective. Tuesday, 3 January 2012. Words, spoken or written, cannot adequately express our gratitude to all the people who prayed for Annabel. We are grateful also for all the words of encouragement, whether communicated by text, e mail, phone calls or simply spoken. We have a God whose very nature is love. Maria warned her head strong daughter of the ...

Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Friday, August 7, 2009. Thru a roach's eyes. One freakishly stormy night, when wind was howling madly outside, tree branches scrapped hoarsely against the window panes, crackling thunder and blinding flashes of lightning, in a peaceful neighbourhood, in a lovely house, there stayed a lovely family of roaches. How to go out hunt for food now. So scary leh! You just stay at home and tell us a scary bedtime story, lo! You all want scary bedtime story? You all sure ha! Ah pa tho...

Mums Night, Wine & Get Me Stepping…. March 21, 2018. March 21, 2018. How beautiful is the weather today! The suns out, I’m feeling a glimpse of Springtime and well Life just feels dandier, doesn’t it, when we are treated to a jolly bit of ‘shine.’. But he just needed to talk to me today. Not even about anything….He just wanted to chat, talk life, the kids and weirdly reminisce in a carpark…as I waved at other mums. Keiran: ‘Junior said that you’d been crying. Are you okay? I don’t know? Years flew by, I ...
The Kids and the Kitties
Things my kids say. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Why Caillou isn't THAT Bad . and Three Shows I Think are Worse. Please do not throw things at me . hear me out. I do not think Caillou is that. Bad Yes, he's irritating. Yes, he's whiny. But on a scale of 1-10 - one being the least annoying kids' TV show I have to endure and 10 being the most annoying - I give him a five. There are other shows, however, that I absolutely mind them watching. I hate Dinosaur Train because it is illogical. Yes, I understand...
