Oh, bettina dear! A change in season. Eastern Market: a love letter. September 24, 2012. I’ve written a lot about location lately, and evidently, I’m not done. There’s something about the changing seasons that reminds me that my neighborhood is truly magical, and I want to honor it here, so that I’ll always be able to remember how lucky I am to live in such a special place. The Eastern Market neighborhood in southeast Washington got its name from the eponymous market. Dreamy rowhouses and blue sky. Let m...

Oh, bettina dear! A whirlwind birthday weekend. Eastern Market: a love letter →. A change in season. September 10, 2012. Friends, I may be the last to come around the bend on this, but I’ve finally succumbed. With crisp maple and oak leaves strewn about the brick sidewalks of my neighborhood, brisk evenings that require a cardigan (a cardigan! A fantastic (and fantastically easy) peach cobbler. And a trip to the ballpark to watch G’s beloved Cubs play the Nationals. Though it’s always bittersweet to bid ...

Monthly Archives: October 2014. October 28, 2014. After a few weeks of painting the living room, dining room and kitchen during weekends and after work, we’ve finally (almost) finished! Knowing that the near future holds a major renovation for the dining room and kitchen, we decided we should figure out a way to update our dining room lighting on the cheap. We decided to go with the color of our accent chest, since the pumpkins below are only sitting there temporarily. Accent Chest and Sophia.

Monthly Archives: May 2015. May 27, 2015. A front door is one of the first things you notice walking up to a house. And the door that’s been on the house since we moved in just wasn’t cutting it… Especially in winter. So we embarked on the process of getting a new one. Something we put some money aside for, hoping it’d be relatively cheap and easy. We weren’t exactly right. But three contractor quotes later, it’s now in the past. The old door. Note: old security door, insufficient sealing and casing.

Weekend One: Changing Up the Floor | Two Boys & A House
https://twoboysandahouse.com/2013/09/30/weekend-one-changing-up-the-floor
September 30, 2013. Weekend One: Changing Up the Floor. When we first saw our house, we both looked at each other, eyes wide, after seeing the … less-than-flattering carpeting covering the entire living space. It wasn’t just that we hated carpet (which we mostly do) but the bright emerald and cranberry colors really got us. I mean, I love Christmas as much as the next guy, but I can do without it on my floors every day. So we knew the FIRST thing we had to do once we got the keys was to get it out. 4 Hac...

Oh, bettina dear! A change in season →. A whirlwind birthday weekend. August 23, 2012. What a busy month August has been for me. I took a fantastic summer course on reproductive health policy (a subject not at. We kicked off our visit with a trip to Bohanan’s, a favorite of mine. I spent many, many evenings at their outstanding bar. And, oh, the birthday presents! I was spoiled, for sure. My friend Ana got me a bottle of small-batch vodka from a distillery. In San Antonio, and my mom and stepfather got m...
