The art of Christian Bocquée: Jekyll & Hyde gestures
http://cbocquee.blogspot.com/2015/03/jekyll-hyde-gestures.html
Monday, March 16, 2015. Jekyll and Hyde gestures. I still have quite a bit of work to do in clarifying the designs, but I thought it might help to flesh out their personalities if I did these quick story/gesture sketches first. My idea for a fresh take on Jekyll and Hyde was to make Jekyll a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor who's obsessed with potency herbs. Hyde would be his wild party-animal state after taking the concoction of herbs. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jekyll and Hyde - WIP.

The art of Christian Bocquée: April 2015
http://cbocquee.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 9, 2015. My final Hyde design. The next step is colouring, then expressions and attitudes. Links to this post. Thursday, April 2, 2015. I based it loosely on Frank Lloyd Wright. One of the things I loved most about Wonka in the original film and wanted to capture was his ambivalence. I remember as a kid not quite knowing whether he could be trusted or not. I hope that my design has some of that quality in it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). More places to wander.

The art of Christian Bocquée: Day 30 - wolves (final day)

Sunday, November 30, 2014. Day 30 - wolves (final day). Day 30 (final day). Topic - wolves continued. I read that the Latin roots of the word satisfaction mean "enough action". I must have done enough drawing the past month because I feel pretty satisfied. I even had to take an emergency trip to the shops to buy another sketchbook. Holding a completed sketchbook feels good, it somehow seems much heavier. Thanks for all of your support. Kind wishes to you all! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Simple te...

The art of Christian Bocquée: August 2014
http://cbocquee.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 29, 2014. The Very Cross Bun cover art. With the cover illustration done, it's now time to hand the baton over to the designer. I didn't expect it to be such a long road to this point. I can still remember the day Jennifer proposed a series of 'fractured fairy-tales' to me on the drive to a children's literature festival. I would love to know your thoughts, especially if you get around to reading it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Very Cross Bun cover art. More places to wander.
