March | 2010 | Run, Cook, Eat!
https://christinamariejohnson.wordpress.com/2010/03
Run, Cook, Eat! March 31, 2010, 10:22 pm. During the run my foot ended up being not so bad, and I was super relieved that I could do the run. I wanted company for some of the run, and the only way to make the timing work out was by starting at 12:30 PM on Sunday, doing 10 miles by myself, then meeting up with my two running partners for the last 10 miles together. I do not understand. Unfortunately the next day the foot pain returned, but nowhere near the same level as last week. I’m heading to...I’...

Run, Cook, Eat! Race Report – Eugene Marathon 2010. May 19, 2010, 4:50 pm. I successfully finished my first marathon. I feel like I’ve learned so much by training for and running Eugene. It’s been so useful to learn what works for me and what doesn’t and what to do differently next time. The race itself was incredibly gorgeous, well-staffed, and had great crowd support. I honestly can’t think of a better race to have picked for my first marathon. Apologies for the long post! My original plan had been to ...

Run, Cook, Eat! New Cookbook / Recipes. July 22, 2009, 6:00 pm. J gave me a lovely new cookbook for an early birthday present – Vegan Soul Kitchen. I’m also excited to delve into Mark Bittman’s 101 Simple Salads. Feature in today’s New York Times. It will be nice to move away from the same old greens with dinner, and this may be useful in making my way through the CSA produce box as well! Vanilla Cauliflower Poached in Almond Milk. July 18, 2009, 6:23 pm. Which led me to the Vanilla Cauliflower Poached i...

Run, Cook, Eat! December 26, 2009, 5:40 pm. I’ve got a year-end running wrap up in the works, plus a possible cooking wrap up, but for now, here’s a quick Christmastime note! Cooking: my favorite Small Town Girl. Generously came up from St. Louis to visit my cold-ridden self early this week. We baked several different kinds of cookies from Vegan Cookies Take Over Your Cookie Jar. On the cookbook side of things, I received Simply Delicious – Vegetarian. By Carla Bardi. It’s got really nice photo...Time to...
February | 2010 | Run, Cook, Eat!

Run, Cook, Eat! Rain rain, go away…. February 4, 2010, 11:46 pm. Kaiser permanente half marathon. I’ve had a few good runs lately. I did an 8 mile tempo run this week (in the drizzle) at 9:30 per mile, and I managed to keep up the pace and still end feeling good! I love 400s (approx. my 2 min distance) so much more than longer intervals. Or maybe just ill-timed breakfast and hydration on Sunday mornings? We’ll see how this changes in the next 3 months. A Small Town Girl’s Guide to Life. A Small Town Girl’s Guide to Life. This Small Town Blog. This Small Town Girl. Bringing The Funk to the Orchard. October 14, 2009 in Appreciating Friends and Family. Growing up, I’d ride on my dad’s tractor while he bush-hogged the fields on our property or on my grandparent’s farm. His tractor is parked permanently, but the Eckert’s tractor in Belleville, IL is still up ‘n runnin’ (as a real small town Missourian would say). TractorGFunk, photo by @mdhugo. I’m te...

I am Christina Marie Hollis
I am Christina Marie Hollis. If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to. And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd because these words are my diary, screaming out loud. And I know that you'll use them, however you want to. Kissing him feels like a chore. But when we’re not I get the sense that he’s bored. Is this what our bodies are for? I’m too cold to keep anyone warm. He couldn’t hold me close enough. But I couldn’t wait to go. Here I am lookin...

Run, Cook, Eat! Vegan Challenge – One Week. January 8, 2011, 12:33 pm. One of the things I’m most excited about for 2011 is experimenting with vegan eating. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked if I’d be interested in doing a month of vegan eating with her. At first I was hesitant, but the more I thought about it, the more excited I got. Yes Lots of dishes to wash? I’ve also gotten to delve in to a few deserving cookbooks on my shelf. Mark Bittman’s How to Cook Everything Vegetarian. Assuming I follow...

NYC has some exciting EPAs on the horizon and today was super cool cause we had the development lab EPA for FROZEN. Aka, the Broadway was looking for a Disney princess…. The lab is happening in May, but they are also doing an out of town tryout in Denver next year, so there are audishes to come. In any case, it was a good excuse to watch. For the first time!
