Out There
Go outside and play. Rafting the Eel River (May'06). So far, 2006 is looking like a huge runoff year with some opportunities for late-season runs on free-flowing rivers. The Eel is usually an early-season run, but on the 2nd weekend in May, it was running between 4,000 and 5,000 cfs. I was there and it was nice. Send $ to: S c r e a m e r (at) chromoly (dot) net. Map Library
Sierra Nevada, California. I'm planning on visiting Tehipite Valley. This summer. This is a map of the area between the trailhead at Wishon Reservior on the North Fork Kings and the destination on the Middle Fork Kings. The hike features ascending to the divide between the NF and MF Kings, then a 3000' descent into Tehipite. And, of course, the climb back out and over the divide to get back. The exact itinerary has yet to be determined. Marin County, California.
