Well, I must say I was certainly surprised when my beautiful red and white calves started turning black or dark brown and white. Huh? We had a calf born the other day from a crossbred cow that we had no idea what she was bred to. It is obvious it was holstien. Chronicles from the Cornfield: Valliant Effort but Brokenhearted Anyway

http://www.chroniclesfromthecornfield.blogspot.com/2015/05/valliant-effor-but-brokenhearted-anyway.html

Chronicles from the Cornfield. The Cornfield's Associates Store. Saturday, May 16, 2015. Valliant Effort but Brokenhearted Anyway. So, what happens when a dairy cow (possibly because of its breed) has a swollen abscessed knee? A few hours later she started pushing. He was doing field work and told me if she hadn’t had it by the time I got back from the feed store, he was going to intervene. She had it while I was gone, but this was six weeks earlier than that due date of June 24. My husband and I have ra...

Chronicles from the Cornfield. The Cornfield's Associates Store. Sunday, August 24, 2014. We got the plastic sheeting on yesterday. The blew it all around me. Did I ever mention I'm claustrophobic. This was a problem! I did notice this morning that since he isn’t working that stressful job he retired from his hair that had gone almost all white is actually turning black again. He isn’t using any hair products either. How fair is that? I’m going grey and he’s going back to normal! Putting on the roof.

Chronicles from the Cornfield. The Cornfield's Associates Store. Saturday, December 21, 2013. Wintertime Preparedness on the Farm. The calendar says today is the first day of winter. I wonder who thought that up- it's been winter here for weeks. The snow is very deep and of course it is very cold. I live in northern Wisconsin, though, not Hawaii (although that is a dream of mine someday) so snow is expected, if not appreciated. To give you an idea of how deep it is already. Case in point below. With weat...

Chronicles from the Cornfield. The Cornfield's Associates Store. Sunday, January 5, 2014. With all the freezing cold outside (and trust me; it is freezing cold outside) the thing that helps save my sanity is the flood of seed catalogs I get every winter. (Odd considering I usually hate junk mail.). We received a nice big seed catalog from the Jung Seed Company (No, I am not affiliated with them in any way! I raised an eyebrow. "What? Chronicles From Netravaty | ~a train of thoughts, over the journeys on a train~

A train of thoughts, over the journeys on a train. October 25, 2013. I guess the whole thing started out when I got one of those calls that later became one of the larger milestones in my life- from one of the ace cinematographers of Bollywood, to join in the next project that was to happen in Hyderabad first and then in Mumbai. This note is not on any of these journeys. It is on the journeys which followed- and if things are going to go in a certain way, might follow again- to Mumbai, the city of dr...

Chronicles from the Cape

Chronicles from the Cape. Saturday, June 20, 2015. On Two Continents Again (May 5 - June 18). The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in . . . .Psalm 121:8". On my return to the USA after 7 weeks there with Tony, the begonias and pansies in my pots were thriving thanks to the diligent watering my neighbour's daughter did for me. We had tea together with her family shortly after I returned. Lord willing, they return in September. Here I am all harneesed up before the ride! The greatest joy of...

Chronicles From The Garden

Chronicles From The Garden. Goin' Top Shelf Since 2008. Thursday, November 5, 2009. The Sky's Not Falling: Bruins Lose To Habs, But Score! That’s the sound of the bandwagon getting a tad lighter in Boston. The highlight of the second period was a goal-call reversed in favor of the Montreal Canadiens as it appeared that the B’s put one by an unsuspecting Carey Price on a rebound. However, as replay clearly showed, the net was taken off it’s moorings and was put in under the dislodged net. For much of the ...
