Friday, 26 September 2014. So I'm not going to dwell on the fact that my last blog posting was over a year ago. Things have moved on and I've retired. No shop, no longarm quilting for others and its wonderful. I now have time to sew for myself and I'm looking forward to sharing some of those makes with you again. I'm a great lover of simple designs for quilts and after years of making quilts I am still fascinated to find it is possible to create so many different designs just by arranging coloured squares.

Monday, 24 January 2011. Who would have thought cutting holes in fabric could be so much fun! I've been having a ball using my new skip stitch blade. They come in 3 sizes, Original, #2 and #3. Now my crochet leaves much to the imagination but you know I am not going to worry. And neither will my 7 month old grandson I suspect . this is his car blanket! Sunday, 7 October 2012. Now I suppose I am lucky that I have a Sizzix Big Shot and this lovely 3-D Flowers #2 die. The larger flower produces a rosette around 3.5" and the smaller around 2.25". The Big Shot is a die cutter - a bit like an Accuquilt (I have one of those too . yes my secret obsession is emerging here! It did take me a couple of goes to get the shape right mind. How to test if you are sewing an exact 1/4" seam allowance. 1 Take 3 pieces of fabric . in this case 5" square. Lay them out in a row. 2 Place the right hand square over the middle fabric. Align the edges. 3 Sew a 1/4" seam. 4 Set the seam with a hot iron then press the seam towards the right hand fabric - the blue square in this case. 5 Place the left hand fabric over the middle fabric.
