At some point in life, one sometimes asks what if? What if this choice? What if that decision? So what if I had understood the value of avocations, hobbies, recreation? What if three years ago, when a particular change was forced upon me, I had made a different choice? What if I had purchased professional quality camera equipment, and pursued the proverbial postcard business? Would I have been better off? How could it have been worse? This Night Wounds Time. I had just unpacked and set up, beginning my work, when I got the call. My son. He asked me if I had heard from anyone that day. When I said no, he said simply Grandma died. The photos on this page were taken that night, as best I could through my tears. I include the complete set, all of those I took that evening before my grief overtook me. Still, months later, I continue to be overcome by grief whenever I talk or write about this shoot, this night that wounds time.

Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Took a little trip to the coast. Different world down by sea level. A different climate zone, still lush and just a few leaves turning. Salmon by the dozens headed upstream. Only a few hundred will make it this far inland to Idaho. And by contrast, here is a video shot today, just out my back door. Click this Who Gives A Dam?
