A Tale of Two Cats – Part 1. We have had two cats, Emily and Cuthbert, since they were 7 weeks old. Their tenth birthday was last November. They were brothers from the same litter – Emily is a boy, but was named by a 3 year old friend…it is a long story…. On Thursday 26 June 2014, Cuthbert didn’t come home for breakfast. This was not unusual – we thought he was probably out catching mice on a sunny day and would appear later. Holidays have been short and scarce this year too. I want to take holidays,...

April | 2014 | churchmousequilter

https://churchmousequilter.wordpress.com/2014/04

Archive for the month “April, 2014”. I am enjoying discovering the poetry of Stewart Henderson at the moment. This one is for my clergy friends in this week after Easter:. Written for Eric Delve 23.5.96. What should a priest be? All things to all –. Male, female and genderless. What should a priest be? Assured through the middle years. Divine sage when ageing. What should a priest be? Abstemious, yet full of celebration,. Informed, but not threateningly so,. The passing soufflé of fashion. But quietly so,.

March | 2014 | churchmousequilter

Archive for the month “March, 2014”. God who is Present in each Moment…. This is a poem I have been reading and pondering through Lent. I shared it with a group of people from church recently. We talked about it and used it for our prayers. They were all in their 80s, and they all talked about learning to take time to be ‘mindful’ in life – to pause and acknowledge that God is present in each moment of our lives. The Bright Field by R.S. Thomas. I have seen the sun break through. A Poem to Ponder. Can wh...

Quilty cats & me: April 2014

http://quiltycats.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Quilty cats and me. A quilting crafting diary. Saturday, 19 April 2014. Yesterday was gorgeous wasn’t it? The sheep in the field that partly surrounds my house were soaking up the sunshine and warmth. These are not my sheep, my girls are a bit further away. I was pottering about when the neighbor said he thought there was a lamb stuck. Turned out that some naughty lamb had been playing king of the castle on my garden wall. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Quilty cats & me: Dye another day

http://quiltycats.blogspot.com/2013/01/dye-another-day.html

Quilty cats and me. A quilting crafting diary. Wednesday, 23 January 2013. So it started with this, I carded some of the Ryeland and pulled off a roving, by far my favourite way to remove carded fibre from the drum carder as it happens. From there I soaked the roving and dotted it with the silk paints I was dubious about.:(. After a bit of wrapping and smooshing the intestine like package got unceremoniously plonked in a steamer. So there we are maybe I will dye another day and maybe I wont. Why Citizens...

http://quiltycats.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-forecast-is-for-snow-and-ice-and.html

Quilty cats and me. A quilting crafting diary. Saturday, 12 January 2013. The forecast is for snow and ice and all kinds of wintery weather, if all else fails I will tuck myself up under quilts and pillowcases stuffed full of fibre and have hot baths and generally stay warm. Later as an adult he would bake bread at home for the small shop that my mother ran, loaves would line up to prove on the big storage heaters. Customers would snap up those fresh baked loaves. Quilty cats & me: knitting

http://quiltycats.blogspot.com/2013/07/knitting.html

Quilty cats and me. A quilting crafting diary. Saturday, 27 July 2013. We have had a stunningly good summer so far, I have probably jinxed it now :(. So what may you ask have I been up to? Well a lot of baby sitting of course, up until this last week when the schools broke up for summer holidays and my very hard working Em, finally gets some semblance of a rest, Hah! That's what she thinks, the babies will soon put her right on any notions of rest I am sure. I went to wool fest! So here is the second fin...
