My Sicilian Home: September 2012
http://my-sicilian-home.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. Sunday, September 30, 2012. Crazy things I never knew about Sicily. And the Cadogan guide on Sicily. 8 On the same theme of scam artists in Palermo, this story happened much more recently. In 2005, a Palermitani couple bilked a poor woman out of 50,000 euros. How did they do this? They claimed to be vampires so convincingly that she truly believed that they would come and impregnate her with the Antichrist if she failed to pay up. In the 1960s, historian U...

All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. Sunday, December 30, 2012. La Bella Figura : Part 1. 8220;Being Italian is a full time job. We never forget who we are.” Severgnini from La Bella Figura. Recently Nick and I watched a Canadian news special about the sinking of the Costa Concordia and particularly about the actions of the captain Francesco Schettino. The Canadian reporter was very critical of Schettino when he arrived at the first of the hearings. Why was he critical? It would be completely...

My Sicilian Home: And More Progress!
http://my-sicilian-home.blogspot.com/2013/03/and-more-progress.html
All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. Monday, March 04, 2013. Nick and I drove an hour to the nearest city to go to our favourite travel agent. I know there are travel agents in our little town but we have been dealing with Flight Centre. For a decade now and they have never been anything but helpful. Picture borrowed from http:/ vintage.johnnyjet.com. So we bought our tickets, booked the car, got the travel insurance and we are in negotiations for a housesitter! Scott sent us this message:.

My Sicilian Home: August 2012
http://my-sicilian-home.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. Thursday, August 09, 2012. Cianciana Life: Saturday Evening – Espresso and Ferraris. In the evening, after we have changed from our pool wear, we do our passagiata or walkabout. Every evening there are hundreds of people walking about, however tonight it seems that more than half the town is out. Young men, hair precisely quaffed into a faux-hawk, crisp and clean polo shirts with the collars turned up. The roads have been blocked off to regular traffic and...

My Sicilian Home: All Things Molto Deliziosa
http://my-sicilian-home.blogspot.com/p/all-things-molto-deliziosa.html
All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. All Things Molto Deliziosa. One of the many things that makes Sicily so wonderful is the food. Much of Sicily is agricultural and so the food you are eating was likely on the tree or in the water or picked from the ground yesterday! For my north-of-the-49th-parallel taste buds this was an amazing treat. And mulberries! Of course I had heard of mulberries but I had never seen, much less eaten a mulberry! I picked it up for a dollar and brought it home to br...

My Sicilian Home: May 2012

All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. Thursday, May 31, 2012. My Journey to Italy, Part 1. I fell in love with Italy, and especially Sicily, decades ago. One day, my very best friend and neighbour, Genevieve, came to tell me that she was going on a school trip to Europe, including England! Not only that, Genevieve's dad was on the phone with my dad right then to see if I could go too. It seemed to good to be true! I grabbed him and hugged him and said, "Oh, thank you, thank you! The time leadi...

My Sicilian Home: Sicilian Wines from a Tea-totaler

All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. Friday, February 01, 2013. Sicilian Wines from a Tea-totaler. I can’t believe that, after 9 months of blogging about Sicily, I haven’t mentioned wine even once! Now I know what you are saying. "Diane! You say. "That film was about wines from Bascilicata! Yes, that is true. I did include a film about Bascilicata wines, but this wonderful little film captures the essence of family in Italian wines. I have to thank Caspar Diederick. Every meal must have wine!

My Sicilian Home: November 2012

All Things Molto Deliziosa. 100 Things About Me. Thursday, November 29, 2012. A Primer to Driving in Sicily: Picking Up Your Car from the Trapani Airport. Is by far my favourite Sicilian airport. If you go to the official website you will see there is no map. That is because you don't need one. It is a tiny, tiny airport. There is no circling waiting for a runway, and when we landed we walked in to no immigration and no customs! That was a surprise! Even the signpost thinks we are going the right way!
