Where in the World are Alan and Reen? August 5, 2014. August 5, 2014. Red Bay and the Red Bay National Historic Site were definitely the highlights of Labrador. They found the remains of a 1565 whaling vessel in the water right behind a ship that had wrecked in 1965. After a long archeological investigation, they put what was left of the ship back in the Bay. We did a little hike after touring the Historic Site. After Gros Morne National Park, we stopped in Port au Choix and Quirpon (near St. Anthony) then took the ferry to Labrador for the day. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from Port au Choix. Where in the World are Alan and Reen? July 25, 2014. July 24, 2014. Driving the trailer right up inside a ship was definitely an experience. It was somewhat difficult to get reservations on the trip from North Sydney to Newfoundland and we ended up on the “cargo” run. There was only a sunset for entertainment, unless you wanted to talk to the truck drivers that made the trip regularly. Saturday, July 11, 2015. 2015 Colorado Adventures Day 3 - July 5. Heading out southeast of Pagosa this morning to find Echo Canyon Reservoir and then on to Treasure Falls. We had a great brunch at The Rose in Pagosa Springs and then walked around town. There was a small carnival and an arts and crafts show set up by the river. Fun to watch people tubing the river. Monday, July 13, 2015. 2015 Colorado Adventures Day 5 - July 7. We're headed home today with a stop in Alamosa at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. We have had rain all morning but were fortunate to have the rain stop for a couple of hours while we were visiting the park. There is a deer in the middle of this photo - need to click on it to see him. Isnt it so pretty there? Sorry you had rain but at least a bit of a reprieve while there. Love it! Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Canada - Day 7. Our last day on this Caravan tour included a visit to the Athabasca Glacier - Columbia Icefield. Ron was risking life and limb to fill my water bottle. I tasted it (very cold) but finally dumped it - who knows what was in that water! This was our all-terrain Ice Explorer. Ron was impressed with the cost of the tires - $5,000 each. A friend of mine shared her system of tracking cards and making sure no one gets the same card twice – thanks Val! I’ve been trying to follow it and hopefully it will work for me.
