The Bookstore Manager asked me to create an illustration of the Taliesin Courtyard for the Gift Shop. So last June, my husband and I signed up for a tour and I took several photos at different spots to get inspiration for the art. My side had sewn projects using my panel designs from The City of Lakes, Poppy Hop and Amelia Harper Collections thanks to my many talented friends who can sew and embroidery. Here's another Minneapolis exhibitor, my friend Alyssa of Penguin and Fish and her embroidery kits, sample products, books and fabric samples. I really like her style. Thursday, September 18, 2014. Sewing Up a 'Convenience Quilt'. Guides her and I photograph the steps. Here goes:. My Amelia Harper panel is available at Modern Yardage. It is 36"x 54" and costs $17. Lindsey first trimmed off the excess fabric and then measured 66" of dark blue fabric for the back. After spraying the batting, she laid down the top panel and smoothed it out, finishing her quilt 'sandwich'. The whole process up to this point took about 3 hours. Friday, March 13, 2015. Historic Brucemore Mansion Card Project. Has this happened to you? I grew up not far from Brucemore in Cedar Rapids, Iowa but it was just last Fall that I took a trip from Minneapolis down to visit it for the first time. I appreciate it now more than I did growing up when history and architecture weren't as interesting to me. My focus was on the front of the house where I photographed sections and details I needed for my illustration. The inside of the house is wonderful, too!

Tuesday, May 27, 2014. My yard is now a card show of past flowers I've drawn into cards. Here's my Bleeding Heart which has been a favorite and prolific flower in my front yard. I planted just a few Allium bulbs last Fall and they just bloomed this week. Yes, it's a late Spring here in Minneapolis! If you like this card, order it soon. Monday, April 20, 2015. Celebrating Minneapolis in Fabric. Many cities are identified by their skylines in art, but to me Minneapolis is defined by its lakes. They are the social network that is tied together with paths for walkers, bikers, skateboarders and runners where they can fish, sail, kayak, eat at restaurants and listen to music.
