Monday, June 27, 2011. U S Consulate Appointment. We went to the U. S. Consulate today to apply for Naomi's passport to come with home with us. There were hundreds of Chinese people queued up outside and inside to apply for US VISAs. Now I know why you can't get them to answer the phone on Monday mornings. Tomorrow, we will get Naomi's passport and start our journey home! Links to this post. We walked over to the White Swan hotel to view the city at night. Friday, June 24, 2011. First plane ride and medical exam. Arrived at out destination Guangzhou after 10:30 pm - over 5 hours late! Finding things to do in the hotel room. Monsoon outside. Ruth is very resourceful. The sisters are having fun together! The medical exam went smoothly until Naomi had to get 3 shots and a TB test. We will get the results on the TB test Friday. Sunday, June 12, 2011. Shanghai Book City and on to Hangzhou. We did some shopping for Chinese books in Shanghai. I was able to get some CSL (Chinese Sign Language) books for other families with deaf Chinese children in the US. We also got some Chinese language material for our girls. Friday, June 17, 2011. West Lake and the night market. Raining everyday since we have been in Hangzhou but finally there was a break in the clouds so we were able to do some sightseeing. Hangzhou is known for its West Lake area. It is visited by couples on their honeymoon as well as vacationers. We took a boat ride to moon island and walked around. Later we visited the Night Market area and practiced our haggling. Lots of people, music, street vendors with all types of smells and sights.
