February 24, 2015. The horror of the laughing wallpaper in Scorsese’s The King of Comedy. Scorsese fans will be quick to notice that very same thrilling cycle of isolation, rage and climax recurring throughout his oeuvre: Mean Streets. All finish with a great big, satisfyingly conclusive bang. Not so with The. Travis Bickle asking his own reflection you talkin’ to me? Hardly. Not when we hear how some woman broke her own leg to look more like Jessie J, or how this guy. The King of Comedy. Is bitterly fun...

May 7, 2015. Four Frames: Past meets present in Paris, Texas. First published by The Big Picture Magazine. Every scene in Wim Wender’s Paris, Texas. Travis begins one of the most memorable monologues in cinema. It is as though he is in a Catholic confessional booth, or a psychoanalytic evaluation: he must confess the past before he can move forward. Travis sits with his back to Jane, so that her image will not distract him from his task. After Travis’ monologue, Jane peers in at him through he one-way mi...

June 14, 2015. The A-Z of found footage horrors. First appeared in The Big Picture Magazine. We know the drill by now: shaky camera, grainy footage, header ‘based on true events’ yes, that’s right, it’s another found footage film. Now a horror staple, this popular subgenre takes its bearings from a nasty little slice of 80’s cinematic controversy: Ruggero Deodato’s simulated snuff film Cannibal Holocaust. 2008) to the bad ( As Above, So Below. 2014) and the ugly ( Paranormal Activity 5. Dead Duck Ideas: Upcomings & Outgoings
http://benmitchellblog.blogspot.com/2015/04/upcomings-outgoings.html
Thursday, 23 April 2015. I've made the somewhat douchey decision to self-set the release date of The Birdcage. My first LP in a good while, as the week of May 18th. I say 'douchey' because this is also the week both Faith No More. S new album Sol Invictus. Swansong The Scarlet Gospels. This will pave the way for another upcoming release, the final installment of my lingering graphic novel series Throat. I'm still finalising the bonus content but the proposed release date is August 3rd. As with Book 1.
