Sunday, March 20, 2016. The bradford pear tree at the corner of the patio is in full array this week. It blooms for about two weeks and is ethereally beautiful. There are a lot of things not to like about bradford pears- their fragility in weather events, their need for constant pruning, and the garbagy smell of the flowers- but they are glorious in the spring. Forsythia x intermedia 'Lynwood Gold'. Calycanthus floridus 'Michael Lindsey'. These are my favorite crocuses. Isn't the venation beautiful?

Saturday, May 16, 2015. Comfrey has a handsome growth habit. The leaves are long and shapely, a nice medium green, and the plant itself is full and healthy-looking. It blends in nicely with my other foliage-rich plants. Right now it is mingling with some wormwood and lemon balm, with shasta daisies, balloon-flower, and betony nearby. Posted by Lady W.
