Journeys to the other side of the world. We then drove south to Ely to see the Cathedral and find out about Fens. It is very large and a nice ceiling but not perhaps as ornate and intact as Beverley Minster which is our preferred standard. We did a town walk down to the river where men were fishing on a peaceful sunny morning. There was a very cold wind, although not strong. Does our GPS record levels below sea level? Journeys to the other side of the world. A day in Ipswich. We woke to a frosty morning with ice on the car. Winter is coming, as noted by our host in Omagh a week ago. Our hostel is a new bunkhouse on a large farm – Brantham Hall – near the head of the Stour estuary in Suffolk. Bunkhouse is an odd term for a new purpose-built hostel with 4 rooms, 3 bathrooms, a large kitchen and a drying room. It is perhaps the best facility we have stayed at, and only 10 pounds per night. With nice clothes in the shops and stopping to look into a church, St Roch. And an interesting Polish church. It was exciting to come across views of impressive buildings at intersections and head towards them. View back from Madeleine. View to right of Madeleine. Espace Cardin on Champs Elysees. Journeys to the other side of the world. We woke to find the snow still covering the ground at Wendover. The school is on the Ridgeway. Track so we went for a nice walk up the hill past sheep picking at grass in the snow. We then wandered into the village and a small market being set up, before heading down to Henley-on-Thames,. Our previous two trips have been in spring and we are keen to see another season which is a novelty, after living for many years in the tropics.
