Now it is a language tuned for true web applications with local storage, 2D drawing, offline support, sockets and threads, and much more. HTML5 removes the need for plug-ins, and can be used for everything from simple pages to Doom-style games. Get rid of plug-ins and use the native support for audio and video. Markup language is more descriptive.
