The Wilkinson Family

There are a number of Wilkinson family lines in the United States. Most of them are unrelated it seems. My William Wilkinson was born in North Carolina on June 24, 1794. He married Jane Butcher on June 25, 1813 in Ohio. William moved his family from Highland County to Sangamon County, Illinois where his first wife died about 1834. He remarried in Sangamon County to a widow named Jane Guthrie Powell. He then moved his new family to Jo Daviess County, Illinois where he died in 1873.

Jacob Butcher was born in Germany. He married a woman named Ann. At least one of their daughters, Jane, was born in Germany in 1796. They immigrated to the USA before 1813. The daughter's names were: Jane, Ann, Katherine, Polly, Margaret, Kezziah and Elizabeth. Jacob died in Highland Co., Ohio about 1832. His wife Ann died about two years later. Last Will and Testament of Jacob Butcher.

The Fays and the Farrells. Ellen Farrell Fay Riley in center front. Michael Fay was born in Ireland. He left when he was seventeen. At some point he married Ellen Farrell. Anna went to work as a domestic when she was about 12 years old. She said,"It taught me the value of an honest days work.". Anna had long red hair that William adored. He had some of that beautiful hair made into a watch fob that he wore at all times. It is now in the possession of one of her grandchildren.
