That’s a great tip – thank you David. I’ve always wanted to see Abu Simbel. We have a compass and have downloaded Tracks4Africa, so we’re hoping the maps will be up-to-date but at least we’re belts and braces with the compass. Claire. Click here to cancel reply. Having started our trip in Alexandria where the Nile meets the Med, it seemed poetic to find ourselves in Uganda at Lake Victoria – the source of the Nile. And what better way to celebrate having driven the length of this mighty river than to go White Water Rafting. 23 Responses to “White Water Rafting in Uganda”. March 3, 2014 at 9:01 pm. We have been staying with a remarkable family at Makuzi Beach Lodge. Lara and Brett Pollard and their sons Kyle and Ryan, are continuing the legacy of Lara’s mother, Jane Jackson whose vision it was to build the centre in this beautiful bay and to build a local school. 6 Responses to “Community Project in Malawi”. The Cruiser seemed right at home in the park and managed the tougher off-road sections with aplomb so that we were able to get up close to all the game. The day finished with a fantastic sunset over the river as the animals came down to drink and the hippos came out to graze. One actually walked past the entrance to the restaurant as we ate our dinner. 8 Responses to “Safari in Zambia”. April 6, 2014 at 4:28 pm.

When we crossed from Zambia into Botswana on the ferry, we went straight to the Chobe National Park where we were treated to the most amazing amount of game, and ridiculously close too. Chobe seemed to be packed full of elephants and giraffes – we lost count in the end. Al in all, Botswana did not disappoint with its plentiful game and great national parks. Glad to see ...
