Wednesday, 30 March 2011. I haven't been out of Townsville's city limits since i first arrived here in February. i love it. it's great here, but i was starting to get antsy. Friday i packed up my sunscreen, sneakers, bug spray and bathing suit, and on sunday i headed to the Paluma Rainforest for a weekend of escape. Sharkies, the on-campus travel office, set this trip up, so there was a group of about 18 other people to share the experience with. we met at the student union building and hit the road.

http://macaelaghc.blogspot.com/2011/05/red-center-part-three-bucket-lunch.html
Sunday, 1 May 2011. Red center (part three): bucket lunch! Wake up as usual. have brekky as usual. roll up the swags and pack up the trailer as usual. Before we headed off to our next adventure, we had a sort of Easter egg hunt. Kendal carefully hid Cadbury chocolate eggs in the tree behind where the food station was set up. That night, we settled down to camp at the sandy camp site on the banks of the OLDEST RIVER IN THE WORLD, the Finke River! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). All aussie all the time.

Sunday, 1 May 2011. The red center (part one): "i get my swag on". What i will be sharing on my blog is but fragmented memories of my whirlwind week in the dusty, dusty, dusty Australian Outback. looking at facebook albums might better explain the experience, though at a certain point in the week my camera died. I jumped in the troopy, thinking it looked the most like what you would expect to ride in in the Australian outback, and we were on our way! The first stop of the trip was to the Alice Springs De...

Friday, 20 May 2011. Macaelagh behind the tree! Our free excursion weekend brought me back to the days when stubbed toes were the worst of my worries. Cat and Mazz, the coordinators of us JCU students picked us up on Friday around 2 oclock and we were on our way to being kids again! The bogans, after getting drunk, wondered over to our camp and disturbed the peace. we told them to screw off, and they did. because we are tough. And then macaelagh shuffles reluctantly over to the jail and gets locked up...

Sunday, 1 May 2011. The red center (part two): "boston pee party: don't get caught with your pants down". I'd say it was a good second day of adventuring. started, as most days did in the Outback, nice and early. first things first: everyday we are woken up not long after sunrise by Lyndon calling the group of us some weird pet name such as "little campers" or "my little possums." if it wasn't so cute and endearing, i might have been annoyed by this at the butt crack of dawn. Swags folded up, food in our...

Thursday, 21 April 2011. On the road again. a red, dusty road. Sunscreen, sneakers, bug spray, long sleeved shirt, silverware, under armor shirt, duffel bag, beanie, sun hat, swim suit, sweater, 4 litres of water. Check check check check check. I packed a pb&j for brekky tomorrow, got my bags packed next to my bed, i have my boarding pass printed, i have butterflies in my stomach. i'd say i'm ready to go! I cannot begin to express my excitement for my plans for Easter break. The opportunity was presented...

Friday, 28 January 2011. Departure home sickness. staying up too late to make the day last longer. letting people know i want to spend more time with them in the seven days i have left to do so. To sell textbooks on eBay. Which i don't know how the hell to do) so that i can make those last few bucks before heading off. keeping a countdown (officially one week). Printed maps of airports. i've. Gone over academic calendars and orientation agendas and marked off important dates on my calendar. i'm. LAYER 3:...

Wednesday, 10 November 2010. Necessity to complete tasks and preoccupation. Before i can go home for thanksgiving and relax a bit before returning to the busy life of a college junior there is a number of tasks to complete, deadlines to meet, stress to take on. research, writing, brainstorming, meetings, seminars. the list goes on. I'm not at the stage yet where i'm nervous and reflective and starting to think about homesickness, so get back to me about that. Let's take it one step at a time though, i st...

Sunday, 1 May 2011. Red center (part FINALLY! I need to get this damn series over with already! Let me speed through the last six days of the outback trip as they were written down in my journal from day to day. of course the detail that i was able to add to the previous outback posts will be gone since it took me so long to write it out. im sorry! At kings canyon, we were pleased to find that there was a pool for us campers to swim in, showers, laundry machines, and a bar! With a happy hour! We get ther...

Sunday, 19 September 2010. Being a junior in college. Its going well. i moved into my apartment at college a month ago. classes started about a month ago too. everything is going well. after my first week of classes, it seemed like my course load was too light:. I have epidemiology only one night a week and it's not a demanding class by any means. Ceramics is only two days a week and though it requires alot of work and self-discipline with regards to time management, it is too fun to think of as a burden.
