2013 Works on Paper. 2012 Works on Paper. The reality of the picture plane as a two-dimensional surface brings to mind an affinity with the paintings of Hans Hofmann, the great teacher and visionary of the 20th century. He said of painting, The heavens opened up and what comes down is color, sound, and music. I admire Clare’s perseverance to reach this goal of a one-person gallery exhibition in her city of residence, Washington, D.C. She has reached one plateau of many more creative peaks to come.

2013 Works on Paper. 2012 Works on Paper. A lifelong artist, Clare has recently found a new liberating direction for her work. Shape and form being the motivation, she has spent many years painting, drawing, and working in three dimensions. Now, organic shapes found in nature inspire a fluid yet linear language.

The Game’ Shortlisted for Macmillan WriteNow Prize! February 3, 2013. 2 Comments ↓. Clare Sandling’s children’s novel ‘The Game’ has been shortlisted for the first Macmillian WriteNow Prize. The WriteNow Prize is working with independent booksellers to find the best new writing for children. Clare’s novel was chosen from hundreds of entrants to join three other shortlisted novels. Just another WordPress.com weblog. CLARE SA SPEíR, THE SCRIPT. The branches of a tree rustle in an evening breeze, the air is filled with the sounds of birds singing. Suddenly the peace is interrupted by city sounds, car horns, dogs barking, the sound of kids arguing. Track down to reveal a ordinary suburban house. INT – KITCHEN – MORNING.
