Textiles on the Edge. (of the Planet). Clare Smith - textiles, art and travels. Monday, July 20, 2009. How to Print with a Fish. Fishface 50cm X 50cm. First select your fish! Dry it off with paper towels and put it on some old newspaper. Using fabric paint and a 2 inch housepainting brush, paint the fish upwards towards the head. This forces paint under the scales which gives a better print. Try not to paint too thickly and don't leave brush marks as they will show on your print. Friday, July 17, 2009.

On the Spur Quilting : February 2015
http://onthespurquilting.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Friday, 27 February 2015. Getting All Antsy Pantsy. It seems hard to imagine that I started my Explorer Series 7 years ago. In 2008, I signed up for an art quilt class at the NSW Embroiders Guild with Carolyn Sullivan in the vain hope that working in this genre would better suit me. I wanted to work smaller, more creatively and in series (. In effect - smarter. Does that sound a familiar refrain? 2 Coral Garden (32 x 38cm).

On the Spur Quilting : January 2015
http://onthespurquilting.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Wednesday, 28 January 2015. Never a dull day. Nepal – what can I say! This was yet another wonderful experience to follow on from those great days in Delhi. Although I did stitch – very occasionally – most of my time was spent discovering the delights of this amazing country. If I had a day free, then I would catch a cab into old Kathmandu and walk my socks off. Hampered of course, by a broken leg…. But it will happen…. A Bright...

On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Thursday, 26 March 2015. Bears in the Wild. Arcadia, Maine: 2011. Inspired after my efforts with the New York Quilt (. It was quite the feverish high! I quickly took up another stack of memento fabrics I’d purchased in Bar Harbor ME whilst on a trip through the Arcadia National Park (7/9/10). This trip has special memories. I was on walking sticks having landed heavily on (and badly twisted) my ankle a few days prior. I never di...

http://onthespurquilting.blogspot.com/2015/04/game-for-colour.html
On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Sunday, 5 April 2015. Understand why I was smitten. The moment I saw Colour Game. I knew I had to have a go - one day. Aside from the colours, I saw a fantastic opportunity to use those lovely fabrics I had coloured in 2002 at the dyeing workshop with. Great, FINALLY using up fabrics from the stash and especially those not so easy to incorporate - hand dyes. At last, in April 2013, I made a start (. Who along with Mary Mashuta.

On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Thursday, 25 April 2013. On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Sunday, 31 March 2013. Machine Embroidery Workshop: 1990. I managed to find a space on a machine embroidery workshop in Armidale (Jul 12-14 1990) with Wendy Wright ADVA which was quite exciting – and rather liberating as well. I learned to push my old (. Elna to its limits. Of course everyone else seemed to have a fancy Bernina, but it was still fun and came in good stead a few years later in Dover Heights. So with my mind burst...

On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Thursday, 19 March 2015. Getting Organised…And in SLOW Order. I’m now at the stage of having more unfinished than finished quilts to document and it’s playing havoc with my plan to list them by the year I started them…and then post in that same order. My plan has reached the term of its natural life and I’m starting to worry about OCD tendencies…. So, after much thought, chaos theory (. I will now post as I finish. It’s Ne...

On the Spur Quilting : No Quilting Here
http://onthespurquilting.blogspot.com/2015/04/no-quilting-here.html
On the Spur Quilting. What we do in life echoes in eternity (Latin Proverb). Sunday, 5 April 2015. I have omitted to put in a little about 2012, a busy year that slipped away without so much as a by your leave. This was of course, the big “Year of Flooring” when the kitchen, lounge and garden shed floors (about 1/3 of our house space) were re-laid. That meant significant upheaval, lots of dust and frequent blue language. The ripping was not a major issue and easily fixed. Then came the news that we were ...

January 2011 marked the beginnings of this OTS blog…. Now a big 4 years. 8230; and my early efforts to shape an unruly quilt list into an on-line album! It also heralded yet another Australia Day Exhibition (2011) so the midnight oil was burning to have MORE quilts to hang. Out of the Many One. Racial tensions in the U.S. are at an all-time high. Fear fuels existing prejudices. Politics polarizes the nation instead of solving the problem. Is it possible to hope for change? Can people who are different enjoy peace-filled relationships? We are looking for truth and answers, and this book provides both. OM1 uses literature, poetry, art, and photography to explore race in America. It is a celebration of unity within diversity. April 20, 2017. Proudly powered by WordPress.
