Classical Civilization 1: Theater Response

http://www.classicalcivilization1.blogspot.com/2013/09/theater-response.html

Monday, September 23, 2013. How does this production maintain the elements of original Greek tragedy (masks, chorus, music, religious ritual, etc.)? Overall, I enjoyed the production very much, and I was very impr...

Musings from a guy who loves life. Utah’s Magic Kingdom. March 3, 2014. Yeah, Yeah. I know it’s March and the snow is melting already. Spring is upon us with Daylight Savings less than a week away. But in one last ode to winter, I’d like to talk a bit about the amazing Ice Castle that I visited a little over a month ago. Ice Castle is a world of ice built by hand with over 20 million pounds of ice! It was a lot of fun! In this ice world. And speaking of Frozen. Ice Castle was actually the set for the vir...

Musings from a guy who loves life. 5 Issues facing America. October 28, 2013. The recent government shutdown, with another possible one early next year is just one more example of the complete inadequacy of our government these days. I sat down and thought, “If Congress really was concerned about America’s well-being, what issues would they be concerned about? What are the serious problems that are really facing our country right now? Hardly. And what about globalization? Juvenal’s Satire III.

Musings from a guy who loves life. Reaction to “Oedipus the King”. September 24, 2013. I enjoyed the true-to-form approach of the Westminster College production of “Oedipus The King.”. The cast only consisted of maybe a dozen thespians, many of whom switched roles on stage from speaking characters to members of the chorus. All were dressed in rags of a sort, flipping their dull commoner sashes to reveal royal-looking satin for their speaking roles. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Musings from a guy who loves life. Juvenal’s Satire III. October 29, 2013. I just finished reading Juvenal’s. Basically a list of complaints from a poor fellow living in the imperial age of Rome. For example, mugging:. He even complains about the noise pollution and terrible road traffic of Rome:. This last quote...
