I’m Thankful for…. Places I’ve been. I think I shall keep a list of books that I have read… sort of. I’ll start from the beginning of Winter Break, 2010 (roughly). Ratings– shown in parentheses after title and author. Rough break-down:. 0- Putrid. Don’t touch with a 10-foot pole ( I will rarely/never give these… mostly because if it’s that bad, I won’t read/finish it). 1- Awful… A waste of reading time and effort. I don’t enjoy large crowds; I rather have space to spread my arms. But in Beijing I was struck by how things seem to be crushed together: ancient history rubbing elbows with modern dogma; generations crammed in high rises; a clamoring, smoggy urban expanse set among clear and cool verdure … a physical definition of ‘juxtaposition.’.
