How to Card with a Drum Carder. Prepare the fibre by opening and removing any unwanted debris. Place a thin layer of the prepared fibre on the feeder table and turn the handle very slowly, if you turn it too quickly the fibres will become ‘fly away’ and attach themselves to the licker-in. When all the fibres are on the storage drum they will need pushing into the pins, as they tend to sit on the top. Use a soft brush or the Finishing Brush. To push the fibre down; this will make room for the next layer.
