Monday, February 17, 2014. If you follow Pearls and Prosecco on social media then you have probably already discovered that on Friday, February 7th we welcomed little Jacob Douglas into the world. I plan on sharing my birth story a little later, because it wasn't exactly "normal" and was full of some rather unexpected twists. For now I just wanted to stop by and share our news while I have a free moment. Be sure to keep up with us on Instagram. 8592; Newer Entries. Previous Entries →. As a wife and mothe...

Pearls and Prosecco: September 2014
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
A July trip to Portland. Tuesday, September 9, 2014. In case you didn't know, my husband and I are both originally from Portland Oregon. Although I don't claim Portland as my "hometown" anymore, I did live there for the first fifteen years of my life. In July after we said goodbye to Italy we flew straight to Oregon to introduce our family and friends to little Jacob Douglas. It's not the same as Italy, but the views are still spectacular and Oregon has a certain charm that's all its own. We spent an aft...

Pearls and Prosecco: March 2014
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
A Birth Story {How Jacob Douglas came into the world}. Monday, March 31, 2014. It's taken me a while to write Jacob's birth story, and I think it's because I have so many different emotions regarding it. I typed up a draft that I really liked last week, and then my internet freaked out and deleted everything. Needless to say, it took me a while to regain my motivation after that. I want to be honest about my experience. My son is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. Afterwards she lef...

Pearls and Prosecco: Weekend Recap
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2015/04/weekend-recap.html
Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Last week was just a blah kind of week. My morning sickness made a comeback (didn't even know that was possible) so I had a few days of headaches and feeling like crap. The weather was crummy as well, so that really just topped things off. We spent a lot of time inside, but at least halfway through the week I started feeling better. Friday night I dropped Jacob off at my parents and went to meet an old friend for dinner. So we celebrated with a pancake breakfast. I also hit 15 we...

Pearls and Prosecco: April 2014
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 21, 2014. Even though our little guy is only 10 weeks old, we had a great time celebrating Easter with him. Children just make holidays so much more fun. On Saturday we took Jacob on base to meet the scariest looking Easter bunny I have ever seen. Part of me is thankful that he was so little, otherwise I think he would have had nightmares. Earlier in the week I put together an Easter basket for Jacob that included some toys, sunglasses, a book, stuffed bunny, and a onesie. I thought another...

Pearls and Prosecco: Easter Weekend
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2015/04/easter-weekend.html
Monday, April 6, 2015. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Our weekend kicked off with a neighborhood Easter egg hunt down at the park on Saturday. Even though Jacob has no concept of searching for eggs, he loved walking around and seeing all of the other kids. There was an Easter bunny at the egg hunt, but Jacob wanted nothing to do with him. Large furry things, whether its animals or people dressed like animals, are not something Jacob likes to get too close to. Brunch was amazing,. The rest of the...

Pearls and Prosecco: A child of God {Jacob's baptism}
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2015/04/a-child-of-god-jacobs-baptism.html
A child of God {Jacob's baptism}. Thursday, April 9, 2015. Back in July (ha I know, forever ago) when we left our home in Italy we made a stop in Oregon so that everyone could meet Jacob. Jake's entire family lives there, as well as the majority of mine. It only made sense for us to have Jacob baptized during our trip so that all of our family could be there to celebrate. Luckily my parents (who live like 10 minutes from us here in Florida) were able to come out for the occasion too. My in-laws hosted a ...

Pearls and Prosecco: April 2015
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 23, 2015. The time of year, all of the fun activities, the decorations, costumes, all of it. This past year Halloween fell during a rather hectic time in our lives. We had just moved into our new home a few weeks prior, so everything was rather chaotic. I was so excited that it was Jacob's very first Halloween, and I didn't want him to miss out on anything. Even though I wasn't sure where all of our Halloween decorations were, I tried my best to make due with what I had at my disposal.

Pearls and Prosecco: July 2014
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 16, 2014. You have been 5 months old for a week and a half now! You are getting so big, your Dad and I can hardly believe it. You absolutely love to hang out on your tummy and are now scooting yourself around. You haven't learned to crawl yet, but you can sure get to where you want to go. You continue to be a happy baby and full of smiles. You love when your Daddy and I dance with you, and burst into laughter every time. You are still exclusively breastfed, although we have started lettin...

Pearls and Prosecco: June 2014
http://www.pearlsandprosecco.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
The San Daniele prosciutto festival. Monday, June 30, 2014. On Saturday we set off to enjoy our last festival here in Italy. It also happens to be on of my favorite festivals. The San Daniele prosciutto festival that takes place every June in the mountains of northern Italy. This festival involves eating lots of food and drinking lots of beer and wine. My kind of day. We attended this same festival three years ago (holy cow! When we first arrived in Italy, and you can read about it here. You start being ...
