Armory Woodworks: January 2012

Tuesday, January 03, 2012. Très petite Roubo: Part 2. The next step on my nephew's bench is to cut the mortises for the stretchers on all the legs. I lay out all the mortises on the legs. It's nice to have several combination squares, this way you can set several different dimensions and make your layout go quicker. I bored out the majority of the waste with a forstner bit in my drill press. Then clean up with a chisel. I cut the paralell board mortise the same way as the leg mortises. Instead of cut...

Armory Woodworks: December 2011

Monday, December 19, 2011. Très petite Roubo: Part 1. Pardon my french. The Roubo bench craze. Snags another victim. Less than a month before Christmas my sister tells me that my 3 year old nephew really wants a "tool bench". I can't be happier hearing this fact and decided I'd build him his first workbench. I scaled down Chris Shwarz's Old School Roubo. I chose 2x4's because they were the cheapest and I could glue up the top by turning them on edge, and make the legs with only two boards. I started by b...

Armory Woodworks: In the shop...
http://www.armorywoodworks.com/2014/08/in-shop.html
Saturday, August 09, 2014. I've gone full bore and changed the blog title. It's now just Armory Woodworks. I've also included a link on the side to my Etsy shop. I don't have any items listed yet but I hope to soon. After a month or so of little woodworking I'm back into it. I've got some big plans in the works and they've helped inspire me to get back to it. There has been a flurry of activity in the past two weeks. Here's what I've been working on. I was sorting through my lumber pile to find enough ch...

http://www.armorywoodworks.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 11, 2015. I'm going to try and keep this short. I've always had a hard time trying to keep this website updated. So first things first, go checkout my Facebook page for Armory Woodworks. I will more than likely not be updating this blog in the future. I find it much easier to keep people updated on what's going on in the shop by posting on Facebook. You can also shop my Etsy. Store straight from Facebook with the My Etsy Shop tab. So if you have. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Armory Woodworks: Projects, projects, projects.

Monday, June 10, 2013. Projects, projects, projects. As a follow up to my last post I'd like to point out that although I have struggled recently with finishing some things, I am keeping very busy. I've also been improving the "shop" or lack thereof with some exciting new tools that have expanded my capabilities. The biggest is my purchase and restoration of a Clausing 4914 metal lathe. You can follow the complete tear-down and rebuild on my other blog. I've also built a mobile cart for my mig welder.

Armory Woodworks: Welcome Back
http://www.armorywoodworks.com/2011/12/welcome-back.html
Saturday, December 03, 2011. At the urging of some friends I'm back at the blog. When I saw the date of my last post I can't say I was surprised. It really does take a lot of discipline to keep up with something like this. I'm going to try to post here at least once a week. We shall see how that goes. I hope to have some new posts soon with some actual working content. Stay tuned. But for now, welcome back! Are you the one who keeps turning the staples upside down? Armory Woodworks: March 2012
http://www.armorywoodworks.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 05, 2012. Maybe this should be titled "Outside the shop". While not exactly a woodworking project it does contain a piece of wood! I slapped this outboard motor cart together on Saturday. The steel came from re-purposed bed frames that I'm constantly on the lookout for. The tires were cheap sale items from Harbor Freight. This is to store/move a Honda 9.9 HP outboard motor for my sailing club DC Sail. Labels: In the shop. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Peter Follansbee, joiner's notes.

Armory Woodworks: August 2012

Tuesday, August 14, 2012. This is the second one of these I made. I never posted any of the work I had done on the first one because it was a 2011 Christmas present for my sister and brother in-law. So I didn't want anyone figuring out who it was for. I was probably being overly cautious. I really enjoy this project as it has many small challenges that helped add to my skill set. These two pieces were the first time I had actually built a drawer that fit into a carcass. I have to say that I think...As is...
