Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Ontario minor hockey probes hazing allegations. It never ceases to amaze me when a group of adults, the Parry Sound Minor Hockey executive members, seemingly interested in the welfare of young athletes, apparently refused to comment on serious allegations like hazing and underage drinking involving their athletes. What is the first thing anybody thinks when they read an article that states ".executive members held an emergency meeting.but would not comment? Links to this post.

Friday, April 23, 2010. An SEC spokesman declined to comment Thursday night.". SEC staffers watched porn as economy crashed. It never ceases to amaze me that large organizations who rely on an image of trust and credibility in order to function will take a "pass" on an opportunity to seize the initiative when confronted with a potentially serious issue. What goes through the minds of people who read an article that recaps such allegations? What do they want to know? Turtling", being unresponsive to the m...

Monday, October 26, 2009. JT’s Gift to Esso. When it comes to your corporate reputation, your credibility as an organization, small things matter. One small incident changed my perception. Why is this in a public relations blog? It’s simple. Lawmakers, regulators and average citizens all have a hand in making critically important decisions surrounding Esso’s business practices. Do we need to question our beliefs about them further or take what they say at face value? Links to this post. This is a follow-...

Saturday, February 20, 2010. Tiger's really teed one up for us. He's made his public apology. Well, whatever his intentions, he can add this failure to his growing list. Let's look at why this is a failure:. It was read, word-for-word; scripted beyond belief. The statement was written for the eye, not the ear.and very poorly at that. The statement was much too much, far too late. It was far too long, and too long in the waiting. Was Tiger Woods coached on how to deliver this? Really makes you wonder.

Wednesday, January 13, 2010. The Price of Information. The recent deaths of two journalists in Afghanistan is a painful reminder of the lengths that some will go to in order to bring us “the story”. My heart goes out to their families and friends - their pain must be unimaginable. I quietly grieve for both; my respect for them: immense. With the Internet regarded as a seemingly endless pipe, feeding. Information to our screens by the minute, we sometimes forget the lengths that some must go in order to f...

Friday, June 25, 2010. The reporter that brought down "The Runaway General". For those who haven't explored this. Article in full, it's worth the read. It runs the gamut on things we tend to find intriguing: history, politics, killing, foreign culture and special operations. One important premise to this post: since we have not heard anybody publicly disputing the quotes or attributions contained in the article, we're assuming that they are indeed accurate. Does Obama need something right now to turn pub...

Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Is all publicity good publicity? First of all, I must apologize for having two sports-related posts in a row. But this one speaks to an age-old adage about publicity, that ". Have a look at the CBC News video. And then think for a moment about the impact of this situation on:. The organization that employs him. The people who witnessed the event or see the video, in particular, those that aren't routine fans of the game. Each may have a different take on Playfair's behaviour.
