CJ's Blog: March 2011
http://clergydude.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Conversations from the journey. Thursday, March 24, 2011. A New Christian Holiday Brought To You By Patrick Crossing! The term Fat Tuesday is the anglicized translation of the French words, Marti Gras. So.is anyone surprised that getting glassy-eyed, drooly plastered and indulging in as much lewdness, leering, lust, lechery, lasciviousness, and leeching as possible – carries with it a French connection? And, we sure the heck didn’t acknowledge any Saints, except for the St. Louis Cardinals. You don’...

Conversations from the journey. Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Humor Me, Part 9 (I can't stop)! So…I have decided that no matter the subject on which I am blogging, I will continue to add “product” to the “Humor Me” posts – out of sync though they might be - because I cannot help myself. I am consistently amused. A good friend of mine, former NBA player and now author, Jay Carty, once said to me,. 8220;I use humor as an anesthetic to allow the scalpel of truth to cut deep.”. Let’s go with that…. 8220;I am not as...

Conversations from the journey. Thursday, July 2, 2009. Humor Me - Part 10, The Ironic Grumbler. Here we go again. I haven’t had time lately to be profound – hopefully profundity is just around the corner. So, once more, we will have to survive on the thinner gruel of humor. The subject at hand is a word or two about my imminent arrival at the big “five-oh.”. She had to undergo emergency surgery to reattach that which I had dislodged. 8221; mentality. Conversations from the journey. Thursday, July 21, 2011. Labels, Part 2 "INFP vs. ESTJ". I was chatting with an old friend this morning over a cup of coffee. It was one of those wonderful “accidents” that God is so generous to arrange. My young friend, who I met when he was a college student, happened to be passing through town. He is now a college minister and I am so very p. What is my point? She is a flake. On and on the labels go. We unfairly summarize an entire person’s life with meage...T is terrib...

Conversations from the journey. Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Humor Me, Part 8. 8220;Baby, I’m alive…” - Jackson Browne, Lyrics from song, “I’m Alive.” Yes, the blogger C.J. still exists. After a mind-bendingly busy month or so, I promise now to wrap up these humble thoughts on humor. Here we go…. I was only kidding.” This really angers the clerics and the burning is commenced with gusto. In a last bit of irony – which is a form of humor – Cranmer offers his right hand to the fire fir...I end with that joyful ...

CTK Durango: November 2008
http://byevocationalministry.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
My name is Chip Johnson and I have set out on the great adventure of establishing a church community in Durango, Colorado. Wednesday, November 12, 2008. I think we are honoring God with excellence. I think coming before God and allowing him to shed light on our quirks and inadequacies gives him great joy because that’s where he loves to be—in the place of redemption—in the place of bridging the gap between our fallenness and his perfection. I love our church. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

My name is Chip Johnson and I have set out on the great adventure of establishing a church community in Durango, Colorado. Monday, August 17, 2009. River of Lost Souls. When the Spanish came to this area, they named the river they found (obviously not in late August) El Rio De Las Animas Perdidas En Pergatorio- the river of lost souls in purgatory. 2 When the clients and guests finally got back to Durango I was asked to go to the train station to meet with everyone and help people find a place to stay an...

In the midst of economic upheaval and difficult times for many people, our church community at CTK Durango is doing some really cool stuff! CTK Durango: February 2009

My name is Chip Johnson and I have set out on the great adventure of establishing a church community in Durango, Colorado. Thursday, February 12, 2009. I recently had an interesting experience. Someone out in internet-land found a blog post I'd written in May of 2007 about being gay in church. The basic jist of the post was that we had decided, as a church, to love people first and worry about behavior second. We were choosing relationship and allowing God's Spirit to lead people beyond that.

My name is Chip Johnson and I have set out on the great adventure of establishing a church community in Durango, Colorado. Saturday, April 11, 2009. This week I went to the local Passion play with my mom. I wasn’t going to go, but decided to because my dad had a big part in the play and I wanted to see him with his hair down and glasses off. I have nothing against the play itself, but I find myself these days attending less and less traditional church events. 8221; What if I’m doing it all wrong? When ou...

Diary of a Clergy-to-be
Monday, January 12, 2015. Further in the ministry. After five years in the ministry, the clergy starts to wonder how else can he serve better? One option that comes to mind is furthering our knowledge and go to post-graduate studies. But what post-graduate studies? Here are some options you can consider:. 1 Doctor of Ministry. 2 Doctor of Theology. 3 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). So, how would you like to proceed? Labels: In the Ministry. Wednesday, September 24, 2014. It is exciting to be a clergy in my d...

Conversations from the journey. Saturday, December 24, 2011. Merry Christmas From Suite 213A.
