I combined a few different plugins and some custom development to create a nice interface for managing documents. On Jan 10, 2013 in Portfolio. Client came to me as they were migrating to WordPress. They had an old custom developed PHP program they used to share PDF’s with folks. This database took hundreds of hours to develop and thousands of dollars. It occurred to me that we could do this in WordPress pretty easily. So in a few hours we build out the backend with some custom fields, custom post types, and custom taxonomies. A custom database driven by a custom post type and four custom taxonomies.

What started out with a single class and a single site has grown to over 4500 sites and 18,000 users. It has replaced the main campus website solution and now has a full time support staff of 5 people. It is being used for professional portfolios, department/unit websites, special events, databases, classrooms, and many other things.

I rebuilt it using a custom post type that was easy to add new items to. Used the default built in custom post type hierarchy.
