http://nzvilla.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Diary of a villa renovation. Garden homeware hints tips lifestyle. Saturday, July 12, 2008. Mr Kiwi did a great job fixing up the walls and skirting boards where the gas heaters used to be. Fortunately he had some spare pieces of gib board (plaster board) to use, as well as spare pieces of skirting board. Though in the process we discovered that there are actually about 3 or more different types of skirting board used throughout the house! Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Diary of a villa renovation. Garden homeware hints tips lifestyle. Friday, June 4, 2010. The new front steps. The joiner installed the steps yesterday. The next job is for him to make the surrounds - and while he's here, he's going to do other jobs to tidy up the front entrance. The steps have been undercoated to help protect them from the rain that's due this weekend. Above: our new front steps! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Auckland villa, built 1916. Diary of a villa renovation: February 2009
http://nzvilla.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Diary of a villa renovation. Garden homeware hints tips lifestyle. Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Summertime is garden time. It's been a quiet few months on the villa renovation front: too busy enjoying the New Zealand summer, and also earning the money for all the renovations I want to make! So imagine my surprise when last year's chillie plant not only came back to life, but is sprouting a fine crop of chillies! Other than giving them away to friends! For summer, I've been enjoying big blue flowers with l...

Diary of a villa renovation: Choosing exterior paint colours for our villa
http://nzvilla.blogspot.com/2010/05/choosing-exterior-paint-colours-for-our.html
Diary of a villa renovation. Garden homeware hints tips lifestyle. Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Choosing exterior paint colours for our villa. I thought that choosing exterior paint colours for our villa would be fun. I've already been to Resene at least 5 times for test points and advice, and we still haven't finalised our choices! Which explains why part of our house looks a bit rainbowtastic! In fairness, Resene do have great resources available. 1840 to 1870: Early Colonial. 1870s to 1890s: Mid Victorian.

http://nzvilla.blogspot.com/2010/06/scribers-part-1-problem.html
Diary of a villa renovation. Garden homeware hints tips lifestyle. Wednesday, June 2, 2010. Scribers: Part 1 - The Problem. I had noooo idea what scribers were till about a week ago. Let me show you. Below: See the gap between the wooden frame and the weatherboards? Well, there shouldn't be a gap. It should look like the pic below:. Much neater, huh! That's because the long, vertical piece of wood connecting with the weatherboards is a scriber. It's shaped to fit the weatherboards. The Wooden Lace Co.

Diary of a villa renovation. Garden homeware hints tips lifestyle. Wednesday, June 18, 2008. And goodbye to the ugly gas heaters. The new heating system has been installed for a few days now and it's just wonderful. The whole house heats up within ten minutes of the system being switched on. Lovely! Very impressed with Climate Control, they popped round yesterday to double check the installation and make sure that we were happy and answer any questions. Now that's good customer service! Diary of a villa renovation: Replacing damaged weatherboards
http://nzvilla.blogspot.com/2010/06/replacing-damaged-weatherboards.html
Diary of a villa renovation. Garden homeware hints tips lifestyle. Tuesday, June 8, 2010. There are some damaged weatherboards in our porch area that are being replaced. I assumed that the entire length of the weatherboard would be replaced, but no, the joiner is able to just cut out the damaged part, and insert a new part. I made that sound easy. it's a bit more complicated than that! But getting the same depth/contour of the scalloped bit. Above: this is what the wall looks like, minus weatherboards...
