how i lost my toenails: Mt. Gamaksan (감악산)
http://hikinginkorea.blogspot.com/2011/05/mt-gamaksan.html
How i lost my toenails. A blog about hiking in south korea. Seoul is a giant sprawling city, rows and rows of domino-like high rises erupt in the center and flow right out into this land of urban sprawl. And, as much as I hate this horrid expansive sprawl, I do love the extensive connectedness of this crazy huge urban and rural network. These vast satellite cities and outer lying regions are easily accessed by buses, subway and rail, making day trips to mountains further out of Seoul as easy as pie!

How i lost my toenails. A blog about hiking in south korea. Hiking in korea - hiking sticks. About two months ago I joined the Korean masses and started using hiking sticks for all my hikes. It was a decision prompted by perma-sore knees and weak ankles. So not being the most coordinated person in the world, I opted for getting one hiking stick instead of two. Now I could still hike using the hiking pole AND have a free hand to use ropes or pull myself up rocks etc. Also I lack a certain amount of confid...

How i lost my toenails. A blog about hiking in south korea. How NOT to loose your toenails! Not a toenail in sight! I knew I couldn't be the only crazy on the mountain with toenails missing left and right, and true enough I found out that there are MANY, many hikers that don't have a full set of toenails to their name. I found out that the main culprit of this toenail theft by nature was due to my boots being too small for my gargantuan feet. This is true! Not my) Morton's toe. Or my feet were on a diet?

How i lost my toenails. A blog about hiking in south korea. Hiking groups in Seoul. Which mountain to hike? There are about as many hiking groups in Korea as there are people! Koreans love to hike, hike, hike! So in Seoul, the niche has been filled with a group of English/Korean hiking groups springing up, and it seems their numbers are continual growing. Each group is a bit different from the others, some hike on Saturdays, some on Sundays, and some offering many hiking trips across the peninsula. The w...

How i lost my toenails. A blog about hiking in south korea. Jinhae and Geoje-do cherry blossoms ahoy! Now this makes me smile. It really really is spring, how do you know? The cherry blossoms tell you so! And also the magnolia trees, the azaleas and those yellow flowers too (golden rod? Korea turns from end of winter drudgery ugly brown, to jaw dropping flower central in no time at all and this is the perfect time to go hiking in Korea! Jinhae Dream Road - don't get run over. What's that you see? The hik...
