Wickaboxet Management Area

Rattlesnake Rock, Wickaboxet Management Area. From points north take Exit 5 off Rt 95. Go right (west) on Rt 102 for about five miles. Take a left on Plain Meeting House Road right. Go for a couple of miles and look for a parking area on the right. This is the Wickaboxet Management Area. Follow the trail until you see the cliffs on the left. There are trees just about everywhere at the top of the cliff to set up top-ropes. Due to the height of the cliffs practicing leading is not really practical.

There are ample trees fairly close to the edge of the cliff for top rope anchors. There are a few crack systems that look like they would provide practice leading but the rock quality here is generally not good. The roof on the main cliff has been led but the rock is chossy and the gear placements suspect. There is one sport route here. This is on state land in the Pachaug State Forest.
