Closing The Drawer

Saturday, February 22, 2014. Our girlie is 3 months old tomorrow. It's incredible to think that such a short time ago, we had not yet met. And now we love her more than we thought possible. And 25 months ago:. Another human being is absolutely astounding. How can we be so familiar with her noises, faces, little fingers and toes and still sometimes have no clue why she does what she does? With that mindset, each day - no matter how seemingly ordinary - is an adventure. Photos by Megan Decker. 3 more month...

Closing The Drawer: Wonderful Things

http://closingthedrawer.blogspot.com/2013/08/wonderful-things.html

Tuesday, August 20, 2013. 3 more months (give or take) until we meet our little girl. And we absolutely cannot wait. This sweet little thing has been stubbornly making her presence known since week 18, using the world's longest arms and legs (our doctor's words, not ours) to poke, punch and prod. All day. And all night. Finding ourselves wholly unfit and unprepared, our hope is in Grace that is sufficient for the work ahead. It may be that when we no longer know what to do. We have come to our real work,.

Closing The Drawer: January 2012

http://closingthedrawer.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Nothing quite like a real book. I won't deny the convenience of a Kindle. Particularly when traveling. But I'm a romantic at heart, and I'm in love with real books. Kindles can't beat the real thing - the way paper warps as it ages, dust covers, the smell, the texture of excellent binding, the sound books make when you slam them shut, etc. Reading (good) books makes us human. At least in my book :). Thursday, January 5, 2012. But on to my point :). Maybe everyone else has alw...

Closing The Drawer: October 2011

Thursday, October 13, 2011. 8221; Please, don’t judge – we also wore black dress socks with sneakers and threw tantrums because we weren’t allowed to watch Power Rangers. Yeah….that’s not helping our case now, is it? Anyways, I haven’t thought about that phrase for years but last night it sprang uninvited to my mind. Why? Because I made macaroni and cheese for a company pot-luck lunch. And why did that particular childhood phrase seem so appropriate? Monday, October 10, 2011. My big little brother. He's ...

A life more southern. Wordless Wednesday – Outdoor Spaces →. March 10, 2011 · 9:01 pm. Well, I had planned on finishing up the slipcover tonight… But, quite frankly, I’m tired! I’m also at a point that involves a little too much thinking to figure it out (because, you know, I’m sewing as I go) so it’s probably better for me to just sit here and watch 27 Dresses. We’ll see next week. I may even have some wine because it’s Thursday! Filed under DIY Project. Wordless Wednesday – Outdoor Spaces →. My name is...

A life more southern. Slipcover update. →. March 9, 2011 · 10:48 am. Just a quick update post before I head off to work…. The fabric you see on the chair now was my draft… A while back my mom donated some muslin to me as practice fabric and that’s exactly what I’ve been using it for. I wanted to make sure I had a good idea of how to shape my seams, where to sew, how much to cut and where not to cut. Images from Modern Fabrics). I purchased the fabric from a store in Charlotte called Modern Fabrics. You a...

A life more southern. The chairs are here! February 20, 2011 · 11:32 am. Things I’ve learned from watching cooking shows. So, this is going to be a really random and semi out of place post…but…that’s what this is all about, right? Last weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday morning, I wound up watching some random local cooking channel. I don’t know why, I don’t know what channel, sorry. But, I learned a lot! 2) When cooking scrambled eggs, cook them on a low heat and stir them. So, there you have it....

A life more southern. April 20, 2011 · 9:08 pm. Wordless Wednesday – Outdoor Spaces. Heyyyy – look who it is. Me. Sorry for my absense; numerous things have contributed to it, including but not limited to a busy schedule, lack of (reliable at first, then all together) an internet connection at home…etc. etc. etc. What can I say, we’re busy! This weekend has been full of interesting things. As you read a few days ago, I found some sweet chairs on Craigslist and recruited my friend Claire to come with me to pick them up on Saturday…you know, so I wasn’t the next Craigslist victim. We had company this weekend (well…Saturday, during the day) – John’s aunt and uncle came up to visit us from Columbia, SC.
