Seeking the Foreign and Familiar. A teacher's adventures. Cloud to Ground Learning. Cloud to Ground Learning. June 3, 2014. Next year, I’ll be teaching at DA in the mornings and developing a new educational venture in the afternoons. The new venture is Cloud to Ground Learning. Between those extremes, there lies an increasing field of opportunity for structured, independent learning. I will help clients define their goals and identify resources in the physical community and the digital “cloud&#...That su...

Can imagining quantum mechanics be useful in daily life? I have often heard about the mysteries and weird behavior of the quantum world. I read the thought experiment about Schrödinger’s Cat and was astounded to hear that this absurd story was taken as an accurate depiction of the physical world. The standard line is, Don’t worry about it. It’s all statistics. By the time […]. What if […]. A Poem for Everyone. I have three cats. They are indoor cats. Evil is Not | Melissa Responds
http://ask-melissa.net/evil-is-not
Evil is not something to be destroyed. It is something for us to respond to. Think of evil as analogous to gravity. It is a force. Is gravity something to destroy? How is it possible to destroy a force? We don’t even know what a “force” is! The question might rather be, how does the force work? What effects does it have? How can we live with these effects? To what extent and how can we change them? Evil: Inside human Violence and Cruelty. After all, weren’t they just trying to help? Can imagining quantum...

Too Many Possibilities? | Melissa Responds

I think I’m suffering from acute possibility overload. If anything in possible, how is one to choose? My thought is that I need to keep a firmer view of where it is I desire to go. For example, if I were climbing to a peak, I would survey the terrain and figure not just what is the easiest path immediately surrounding me. Wouldn’t I try to start at the top to figure out which are the possible trails that actually end at my goal? Click here to cancel reply. What Kind of Tree Would You Be?

http://ask-melissa.net/99-9-dust-free
I have three cats. They are indoor cats. This means I need to deal with cat litter boxes. I have three cat litter boxes, plus a spare. My favorite kind of cat litter is called SweetScoop. It’s made from wheat grass. It’s expensive, but smells like sweet meadow grass on a sunny summer day. It has very little dust. In my house, with rooms full of books in close proximity to the cat boxes, minimizing cat litter dust is a priority. If my cats decide not to use any of these litter boxes for one or two days, w...

Hope | Melissa Responds

Someone said, “Hope has two daughters. The one is anger and the other courage.”. I would rather say, “Hope has two daughters. The one is compassion, and the other character.”. When we hope, we contemplate the goodness which is to come, and the vision fills our eyes and hearts and minds with the love we have already received. Love overflows the boundaries of our hearts, spilling out in compassion. 2 Comments to “Hope”. Http:/ viewdesigncompany.com/1228/254.html. 29 December 2013 at 1:57 pm #. 8220;It appe...
