December — Clunbury Hill Poem Cycle
http://www.clunburyhill.com/december
Relief for overloaded clouds,. For sheep with crusted coats,. Fleeces tightened against freezing fog. Stubborn ice that stings novice noses. Ice in the wind pecks cheek bones. Tingling fingers until they cry. Frosted pathways to rabbit holes. Lead the fox in the haunting light,. But at the copse edge he is distracted. By a hoodie who stops, stiffens and shiggles. Relieving himself on an elder tree. The Clun is swelling up its bank,. Lifted by the wind that opens doors,. Trees have withdrawn to calligraphy.
February — Clunbury Hill Poem Cycle

Cursing pools in lower fields. Gullies chilled between ridges. Whose tractors dump mud. In runs and lumps,. Leave slicks of soil. Swishing to block drains,. Fields flayed into mirrors of water. Cursing convoys of school buses. Down Mucky Lane, obstructing tractors. Loathing rabbits who heave fence gaps. Where newborn lambs get stuck. Hammer in wood stakes,. Bring down the beedle* hard,. Harder still for the ground to pull. With a suction grip,. Frost has the clean lines of a pastry cutter. Not a breath o...
January — Clunbury Hill Poem Cycle

Goldfinches on teasels,. Alder catkins a face-powder pink. As light returns at four minutes a day. Wind torn branches,. Are spears and antlers. Stuck under leafless trees. Fresh molehills, their runnels of snow. Turning to ice caps in the sun,. Frothy bubbles as collars in the shade. Older molehills rounded by rain,. From their nights’ work below. Sheep’s circle round the ring-feeder. Or legs folded beneath, then to leave. A shape, as if a hot water spillage. Clouds smoking with snow.
October — Clunbury Hill Poem Cycle

Green Lane and Herons’ Road. Two roads intersect -. The Twitchen, the Saxon drovers’ way. A green lane, worn away, sunken. The River Clun is the Herons’ road,. Swelling seven miles down from its source. Down the green lane five pollarded oaks,. Gnarled, cracked open, make insects’ homes,. Sprouting branches being grown for gate posts. Within one oak a holly thrives, flicked with berries. More rain and the river’s voices break out. Strong words exchanged with upright stones,. The ground is letting go,.
November — Clunbury Hill Poem Cycle
http://www.clunburyhill.com/november
Larch needles rain down. Yet still there are high apples. Fieldfares chuckle when finding fruit. As they all feast together. Rake the embers of orchard trees,. Trees with flickering wings. Two fields above the river. Farmer Fred is shepherding. In his four by four,. Toots at a ewe to get up. She strains and hobbles,. He takes her to a barn. Where brother Bert keeps his eye. On the lame and the sick. Winter is setting about its shrivelling. Raw twigs to a sculpted stillness,. A fog stayed all day.

Where I’m Going. Destination: Boracay Island, Aklan Philippines. July 14, 2011. I have heard a lot of great things about Boracay. For a long time. And for as many times as I’ve traveled to Manila, Philippines. My mom came with me on this particular trip. Again from all the great recommendations, we stayed at the Boracay Beach Club. I’m going back. In fact, I may have to always go back everytime I go to Manila. The flight is less than an hour from there, but you feel like you’re a mill...January 12, 2011.
