That was until he got to the part about Stephanie Lenz and her thirteen-month-old son, Holden. Artists can now build upon prior recordings themselves, turning the fixed artifact of an earlier artist’s performance into raw material for new work. I understand that artist should have some claims to theirs works, after all that is how they make their money. But, it you take a small piece from one thing and a small piece from another you are creating something entirely new.
