Moulds

I've developed a technique to create moulds or plugs, using a method of slicing, assembling and finishing. These moulds or plugs can be made using either MDF or carving foam. I have used this method to create plugs and moulds for a wide range of components for the racing car industry, but this method can be applied to making moulds or plugs for any industry.

We use a 3 Axis cutting machine, which has a maximum routing area of 2440mm x 1220mm, it's highly versatile, and allows us to cut a wide range of sheet materials. Cutting Definitions: 2D, 2.5D, 3D. A 2D object in the CNC routing world actually has 3 dimensions, as it is cutting into a piece of 3D material. It can be confusing, as 2D will make a 3D cut in an object. The best way I can describe 2D cutting is that the material is cut at a constant depth from one side (i.e. the top). 25D V Bit Carving.
